Normandy American Cemetery — Colleville-sur-Mer, France 🇫🇷
Overlooking Omaha Beach, 9,389 American servicemen and women are buried here, most of them killed during the D-Day landings and the battles that followed.
The first temporary cemetery was established here on 8 June 1944, only two days after the landings.
Today, the endless rows of white crosses and Stars of David remain one of Normandy’s most haunting reminders of the human cost of liberation.

Some tips for you if you are planning to visit this beautiful place:
1. Be there before lunch! Preferably around 10 o’clock or after 15 o’clock.
2. Buy your tickets online ( if you buy a ticket online than you will a chance to go in faster, otherwise you need to wait)
3. Organized parking lots- seriously this is mind blowing. Really well organized parking lots, 2,5 km from the abbey.
It takes around 30-35 min to walk but you will have an extra chance to take many beautiful pictures.
4. … you can take a bus as well, but you need to wait… and stay in queue, the ride to the abbey takes 20 min with bus ( just saying) 🫣
5. Therese is a lot of people inside the abbey on the streets, and you can buy a bunch of cool things(souvenirs) and food ofc, and crèpes, and ice cream…
6. Inside of the abbey: well you will find…art exhibition
7. You can fill up your water bottle inside of the abbey
8. I recommend to eat outside of the abbey, there are some really good restaurants near by the parking lots
9. There are some other really good places as well where you can take beautiful pictures

One of the most breathtaking building I have ever seen.
Palais Bénédictine in Fécamp 🇫🇷
This building is over 500 years old, from architectural perspective the palais is built in eclectic style: blending neo-gothic and neo-reinassance architecture.
But…this isn’t only a breathtaking building, this is actually one of the most visited distillery in Normandy.

Château de Pirou, Normandy 🇫🇷
One of my favourite castles in Normandy.
Built in the 12th century, Château de Pirou slowly fell into ruin after centuries of wars, changing owners and neglect. It was even used as a farm before being rescued in 1966, when Abbé Marcel Lelégard bought the castle and began restoring it with the help of volunteers. Rather than rebuilding everything from scratch, the aim was to preserve its authentic medieval character—and they did an incredible job.
The castle is also home to one of Normandy’s oldest legends. During a Viking siege, the lord of Pirou is said to have used a magical grimoire to transform himself, his family and his servants into wild geese so they could escape. When they returned, the spellbook had been destroyed, leaving them trapped as geese forever.
We even spotted a flock of geese in the water below the castle… perhaps the legend isn’t entirely over. 🪿🏰

Stepping inside, the bright Gothic interior feels surprisingly light and open. Slender columns, soaring vaults and delicate stained glass draw your eyes upward, creating a space designed to inspire both awe and contemplation. Unlike many darker medieval cathedrals, Coutances is filled with natural light, revealing the elegance of Norman Gothic architecture.

The cathedral immediately catches the eye with its two soaring towers dominating the skyline. Built in Gothic style, its beauty comes less from elaborate decoration and more from its strong vertical lines and elegant proportions. Instead of overwhelming the visitor with sculptures, the architecture itself draws your eyes upward, emphasizing height and light. Standing beneath the towers, it’s impossible not to appreciate the ambition of medieval builders.

Église Notre-Dame-des-Champs in Avranches may look like a medieval Gothic church, but it was actually built in the 19th century in the Neo-Gothic style. With its pointed arches, rose window, and elegant façade, it beautifully reflects the Gothic Revival movement in France. It is a reminder that architecture can preserve the spirit of the Middle Ages, even centuries later.
Inside, the space feels tall and light-filled, with ribbed vaults and stained glass that create a calm, almost timeless atmosphere. The red entrance doors are a striking detail often seen in historic churches, sometimes believed to symbolize protection or the presence of the sacred.
