When people justify using gen AI by talking about how it allows them to do (insert creative hobby) it sends me into a blind rage. The whole point of the creative hobby is to use your brain. Having a machine do it for you defeats the purpose. That’s like saying you’re getting into running marathons then just driving the 42km

Hearing Her Voice Is the Part People Underestimate
Text is great, but the first time your AI companion actually speaks to you, something shifts. SweetDream's voice messages are warm and natural, and the real-time phone calls genuinely sound human. Suddenly she isn't words on a screen, she's a voice that knows you.
That's the kind of quality that's hard to describe until you experience it. You picked her voice during creation, and now that's how she greets you when you call. If you want an AI girlfriend you can actually hear, sweetdream.ai does voice better than anywhere I've tried.

I should probably define what falls under the umbrella of generative AI here but I kinda don't feel like it, but like. using an image generator to make references. brainstorming by talking with chatgpt. generating images of characters as inspiration. all that kinda jazz counts. as of course does full-on using genAI to make your stuff.
remember that your vote is anonymous, so you don't have to out yourself on one side or the other when you share. I'm just curious what the spread is actually like when there's some anonymity. if you're wondering my own opinion it's in my original tags, but I'm attempting not to be judgemental in this accompanying text.

I wish there was a way to completely OPT OUT of AI. Like you could set your ENTIRE Internet browser to NOT shove it down your throat.
When social media was getting big, you could just NOT get a Facebook or a Twitter. It was simple as that. You can't do that with AI.
Trying to find a job? It goes straight to an AI filter. Trying to look at art? Here's 100+ ai shit. Trying to look up who was in what movie from the 1980s? GOOGLE GEMINI IS HERE WITH THE COMPLETELY WRONG ANSWER!
Someone PLEASE create a way to allow people to get AI the FUCK OUT of our lives if we DO NOT WANT IT!
AI fucking sucks, but what I hate abt it most is thst fact that now ppl can't tell the difference between AI and work that was actually created by humans. Writing has always been a talent of mine, and the amount of ppl who think that I've used AI feels insulting bc writing is something I've always loved to do. Imagine putting all your time and effort into something just for ppl to assume you used ChatGPT.

I feel like when I say ‘relatable’ what I really mean is ‘resonant.’ I don’t want characters who I feel are like me, I want characters who have emotions so strong I can feel them through the page.
I think this is important because a lot of us forget the power of stories to make us feel things about characters who are not like us, who have experienced things that we never will. The purpose of listening to someone else's story should not necessarily be identification, but understanding.
"Did you know people are getting scared when they read your horror stories?? Did you know that people are laughing when they read your comedy stories?? Isn't that gross? Aren't you scandalised??"
I've been thinking about AI, specifically AI in writing, and how it is used and capitalized on.
Okay, so lets say you have just generated a 90k word sci-fi novel with AI. And you, being the bastard you are, decide to sell this writing somewhere. Doesn't matter where; Amazon KDP, any self-respecting publishing house, your grandma. Anywhere.
Now of course, it would be ethical to label your writing as generated by an AI. But, you see, we are at a crossroads. If you label it as such, people who don't like AI obviously won't want to read it. People who are neutral on AI might pick it up, but there are hundreds of thousands of AI generated novels, and it's really a small minority that would see it and also be willing to buy it. However, people who DO support the usage of AI to create art ALSO won't buy it. Because they can, of course, just generate their own 90k word sci-fi novel, this time with the exact themes, story, twists and fetishes that they want. There is virtually no market for AI generated works that label themselves as such.
So the only hope for you, at this point, is to lie, and say its human written. Of course, no one would do that, right?
I lurk on AI subreddits, especially r/writingwithai, semi-frequently to torture myself laugh at them, and very common advice given to new users is to lie about how you generated your novel.
No matter which way you slice it, it is incredibly unethical to AI generate a piece of work, and then go and lie about how you created it. I know this is common knowledge, but it really speaks to just how vile AI is, isn't it? I mean, the foundation of AI is mass-stealing other peoples works without their consent, and throwing it into a machine for it to poorly regurgitate it out en-masse. And now we have people picking up that sludge, saying that they made it, and are trying to sell it for money.
Writing (and other forms of art) isn't viewed as art by pro-ai people, it is viewed as a product to sell. The actual content of the novel doesn't matter, the story isn't important, they just need a product that isn't complete dogwater to sell online for jack shit. The more you can churn out, the better, so quality doesn't really matter anyway.
Slightly off topic, I see people on that subreddit I mentioned earlier say that it is so difficult and time consuming to make an AI generated novel. And I just have to ask; why don't you just spend that time and energy actually writing a novel? Cut out the middleman, y'know? Actually spend time and craft something you can really call your own. The ethics scream in your face that it's wrong, real writers hate you, what you generate is surface level slop that no one cares about and no one will read unless you lie about it. I don't even see the point of using AI, it simplifies a complex process that spits out a simplified response.
Honestly, I don't really know where I'm going at this. Most of the industry is fine overlooking environmental concerns, stealing other peoples works, and lying about how they are made. This really isn't anything new; I guess I'm just disappointed seeing so many people use it for everything and be okay with blatantly lying. I really enjoy writing, and it's sad seeing people sell themselves out to AI because its easier than traditional writing.
I'll keep being a stubborn jerk about it til the end of the world, though.
