Blue, like don't forget about me - Buy Blue Here - 65k queer romance - Twenty years after Nash and Teddy lost touch, they reunite at a funeral and find all of the too-big feelings from childhood are still there, bubbling under the surface
Violet, like these delights - 56k~ (revising) sequel to Blue - Jo's POV, coming of age in your 30's - A month before her brother's wedding is called off, Josephine Owens thinks her biggest challenges are accepting her return to second fiddle and making friends of her new teammates on the Vervain Creek roller derby team. So you could say orchestrating the downfall of the man stalking her family will be something of a surprise.
Woolen Hollow - Drafting Percolating Drafting - fantasy, magic systems, found family, accidental chosen one. A story about choice and that weird forest kingdom cult that thinks Midge is the chosen one
Hot Air Balloon Town (working title - percolating) - In a small town famous for their hot air balloon museum and annual festival, a young woman decides she's going to break the world record for highest altitude in an open basket. However, the ghost in town is complicating things.

FanFiction
Spideypool (Peter Parker/Wade Wilson)
Paradise (spread out with a butter knife) - 72k - slowburn soulmates au where friendship is magic (or the one where Peter and Wade are literal soulmates but don't realize it for literal years because they're literal idiots)
The Little Barnacle - 3k - Peter panics and botches Wade's proposal by proposing first like the babbling disaster man he is. He also turned out hella aro and this was his choice.
GwenMJ (Gwen Stacy/Michelle Jones)
michelle.mp3 - 32k - Michelle breaks up with Peter and retreats to her grandma's house in the country to lick her wounds and meets Gwen, her insufferable neighbor who also happens to be the drummer and songwriter who upended her perfectly adequate life and is apparently back for more.
Gen Fics
Iron Imposter/Hometown Hero - 71k - Harley-centric, trans!Harley, canon compliant, post NWH - During the Blip, when Rose Hill was on the brink of blinking off the map, Harley Keener donned his homemade Iron Man armor and began stealing whatever his hometown needed to survive. They called him a hero, even when he pointed out that stealing ain't exactly hero work. Now, five years after the blipped have returned, things are still dire. He can't slow down. He can't take a day off. And he can't let anyone know how close he is to slipping and bringing all of Rose Hill down with him. It all unravels when Harley nabs a charity donation from under Spider-Man's nose and the hunt for the Iron Impostor begins.
Curative Kisses and Magical Mishaps - 1.7k - Tony Stark-centric - Morgan gets hurt and Tony makes it all better. Or: The one where Tony's life is so full of people who love and cherish him that I've erased Endg*me from existence and this is the canon now ✌
Parkner (Peter Parker/Harley Keener)
*deep breath*
Freak Out 'Verse - 317k - It starts with a kidnapping, evolves through a summer romance, and ends with a portal to another dimension, team dynamics, and... shit tits? am i reading this right? ...really? Yeah folks it says shit tits what the fuck
Peaches 'Verse - 90k - It starts with Abbie and Harley. It starts with leaving. It ends with Abbie and Harley and Peter and May. It ends with a room and choosing to stay.
The Distance Between (You and Me) - 29k - Harley struggles to get a grip on his PTSD while his kidnappers are still out there, the board of directors at Stark Industries are looking for any excuse to deny him his future right to inherit the company, and his "bodyguard" drives him up the fucking wall.
For the First Time, Eye to Eye - 47k - Peter and Harley have a lot of shit to work through and Harley's family reunion (while they pretend to be boyfriends of five years rather than workplace rivals), is not the time or place. And yet...
Lemon Boy - 117k - Post-Endgame (sorry) Harley takes in Peter as a roommate to help with expenses while he remodels his deceased uncle's house. Both grieving in their own way, they eventually learn to see the other clearly--through the mask and despite the barriers.
Put in the Work - 55k - Rated M - fka the nasa au, now with minimal nasa (sorry). Harley built his whole life around two things: his daughter and his career at NASA. It's nothing but bad luck that he's laid off at the same time Hazel is pushing for independence. To cope, he falls back on his usual stress-relief, hotel sex with a hot stranger, but bad luck arrives in threes and it's definitely bad luck to fall in love with your one-night stand. If only he had a friend to vent to other than his sister, his daughter, and his strange quasi-friendship with Spider-Man via twitter…
another time, a difference place (I have loved you before) - ??? - Rated M - In-progress (I'm posting as I go for once) - Endgame parkner fix it fic. Peter and Harley were together inside the soul stone. Unfortunately, neither of them remember anything and these frequent bouts of deja vu are getting weird.
Parkner One-Shots
Heart (in hand) Home (in you) - 2.5k - Harley-centric sick fic
An Insignificant Problem - 1.2k - De-aged!Peter; Fed-up!Harley
Wouldn't Dream of It - 2.3k - Harley-centric alien goo induced trip down memory lane
The Human Kind - 3.7k - Spidey and Laddie play hide and seek :) (mind the tags!)
Undercover? I thought you said under covers... - 3.7k - what it says on the tin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Peter, no - 3.4k - Peter is an awful outdoorsman. Harley is in love with him.
Rhythm and Blues - 1.3k - Flash POV! He's stuck late at school and sees something he isn't supposed to.
No Need to Rush - 5.3k - It's simple: Harley loves Peter. Yet complicated: Peter loves Harley.
Second Chances for Second Guessers - 3.7k - Peter is a flighty little whimp afraid of falling in love
Pete, I'm Fake Drunk and Wanna Go Home - 2.9k - Peter needs a night off and Harley has a fool-proof plan to make him take one
The Devil is a Hopeless Romantic - 2k - tried to write angst. it's only okay
Completely and utterly devoid of sex appeal - 1.7k - Peter has the hots for Harley when he wears a certain outfit. Unfortunately it's his work uniform. And they work together.
Fake Romance Crap - 3.4k - sure he fake married me an hour ago, but do you think he likes me?
Apeshit - 2.1k - A Freak Out 'Verse one-shot written for the prompt: You know what, maybe they ARE tired of being nice. Maybe they DO wanna go apeshit.
adventures with hair dye and feelings — In Space! - 8.7k - 5 times Harley and Peter don’t kiss +1 time they do (in space!) Written for the combined prompts: 8) every single kiss so far has been a disaster but it's really funny and 46) don't have a one night stand with your coworker on the spaceship
Come on, take a joyride - 6.8k - 5 times Harley takes Peter for a ride +1 time Peter takes Harley
Free Pass - 9k - Rated E - a smutty New Year's Eve one-shot that got plot in it somehow...
Baseball Smut ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - 2.4k - Rated E - Baseball uniforms are sexy, okay?
Seasons of You (remember remember remember me too) - 3.8k - Peter buys his first Christmas present in five years and Harley has a lot to learn, but he's off to a pretty good start. Or, the one with mittens and canned stew.
Coming Up...
Your Mom Freaked Out - ??? - An addition to the Freak Out 'Verse that occurs sometime before the final scene of You're Freaking Out's epilogue. Harley gets blasted with temporal rays when Peter and Tony's time machine experiment goes wrong. It's just his luck that he wakes up handcuffed with Officer Benjamin Parker sitting at his bed side...
Spider-Man 4: Bring it on Home - ??? - Peter/Michelle - Sequel to II/HTH - Michelle POV (maybe with some Peter POV too--i'll decide when I actually get to writing it hah) -- Inspired by the events of Iron Imposter (Hometown Hero), Peter sets out to Boston get his friends back. Meanwhile, Michelle is trying to solve the mystery of why she and Ned have gaping holes in their memories. Ned has it worse than she does and has the therapy and medical bills to prove it, which is all the more reason for her to get to the bottom of this before his episodes get any worse. She's positive she could have solved it by now if not for the universe throwing constant distractions in her face--like the cute guy that recently started frequenting the shop where she works. And what the hell is Spider-Man doing outside of New York? One mystery at a time, Em. You'll figure it out. You always do.
We Were Gods (we were kids) - 100k~ - parkner childhood friends to estranged almost lovers to superheroes fighting on opposite sides to reluctant allies to lovers for real this time (this is the OG OG Blue like don't forget about me, back to its fanfic roots)

i know this sounds like an exaggeration, but as a queer southern kid, dolly parton would have been the only reason i could be convinced to believe in jesus again. she was our princess diana. she was the best of us.
if you don't know east tennessee like i do, it's hard to fathom how we failed and continue to fail our own. large swaths of the population left to rot in illiteracy and addiction with a lack of access to hospitals and infrastructure and education and jobs and a way to get out. to say 'dolly parton is from a small town' is an under-exaggeration to the extreme.
but dolly parton didn't just get out in the way that so many of us dream of doing-- leaving behind the worst places, watching the dust settle in the rear view. instead, she took the place that built her into her arms. she gave millions of free books to children who hungered to learn. she funded a cancer centre in a region without one. she built a foundation that gave monthly stipends to people in the smokies affected by unprecedented wildfires in 2016 which effectively rebuilt the region. she basically built pigeon forge, gave the city an economic stability it never had prior.
and i could enumerate everything she's done elsewhere and otherwise, because it is a list that deserves enumeration, but i need to sit with what she did for the south in a minute and i need everyone here to do the same with me.
so many of us were given up on and continue to be given up on. i see people all the time write off the south as this hellscape wherein every person is an illiterate bigot monster incapable of change, growth, or compassion. it is easy to then justify the mistreatment of these people, these grotesque representations of everything wrong with our society-- it is easy to abandon them.
dolly parton refused to. she could have taken the money, the fame, the luxury and run-- she never did.
and she never backed down when it came to her love. she stood up for the lgbt community long before it was ever popular or even safe to do so as a celebrity. she celebrated drag artists as inspirations. she thoroughly believed we were all god's children. when she spoke of jesus, it was never to invoke his judgement-- it was always to invoke his love.
and that's a wound rural kids have, too, beyond the physical systems of oppression. we are failed by our own who have internalised the narrative that we cannot be saved on earth and thereby have to put stock into a heavenly system that heavily punishes its own, just as we have been punished by our own. jesus' love was taught and weaponised but never practiced, never realised, always a bandaid and never a stitch.
dolly parton spoke of salvation as something we were obligated to give each other, of forgiveness as a deliberate and continual act of explicit love that we were capable of every day. the only thing we ever had was each other, and we could abandon each other as we had been abandoned, or we could love each other as we were never loved. and she chose the latter.
it has been so easy for me, for so many, to leave our country kid past behind the second we could. to mask our accents, to choose the next largest town or city over to claim as our hometown. to dream of worlds larger than the holler, where everyone loves us and no one hurts us ever again, because that could never happen at home.
dolly parton said it will happen here. it did not for so long, and i am so sorry, but it will happen here. i was made here, too, and i love you. i will always love you.
when dolly parton was on the tonight show in 1977, johnny carson turned the subject of conversation to her body, and dolly maneuvered the discussion to a place where she was the one telling the joke, so deftly and politely that i doubt he realized the enormity of that power shift. she was consistently the target of misogynistic jokes, especially early in her career, and her approach was always to take control of the narrative around her body, her appearance, her presentation. i carry that lesson with me every day that i walk through the world as a woman. dolly didn’t identify as a feminist, but it’s undeniable that she held the door open for so many women in country music, and focused so much of her art primarily on the experiences and perspectives of working class women. i don’t want to cast her as unique in this regard, because she credited other women as influences, but she was my road map to womanhood when i was growing up. i never knew her, but i owe her a lot, and miss her so much.

Gyroscopes are very neat and if you ever have the opportunity to get your hands on one in person, I highly recommend it! You can feel the feedback of them resisting changes in orientation as you move them around
couples tend to follow each other into the grave and you could always tell dolly parton loved the hell out of her husband carl so it’s not surprising that she’s passed considering he died last year but wow. what a titan. one of those people i thought would live forever. the things she did to help literacy in this country are literally measurable in the thousands and thousands she spent donating books to poor schools and encouraging literacy in rural areas but is also completely immeasurable. she truly was larger than life.

Hey all, while we're busy normalizing women with hairy legs, hairy armpits and bushy pubes, let's also normalize women with hairy upper lips, hairy chins, hairy side burns, hairy chests, and all the other places where women are supposedly magically hair-free.
official announcement of dolly parton's passing from her family, with a request that in lieu of flowers, folks donate to her imagination library. rip dolly 💛
Hi. So, I've been writing for most of my life. Right now I'm just going through a depressive phase where I wish I wasn't a writer. Idk, I guess I just feel really discouraged and like I don't have anything of value to contribute. Even with that fear, I know I don't want to keep feeling like this.
I'm sorry to kinda dump this on you, but I know your blog is a very writing-positive place, and I was really hoping you or your followers would have something encouraging or helpful to share. 💙
First of all, you absolutely do not need to apologize for bringing this here. 💙 I’m really glad you reached out to us!
Second, I think one of the cruelest things depression can do is make you feel like your lack of feeling is evidence of a lack of value. It isn’t. Not being able to see the worth in your writing right now doesn’t mean there’s no worth there at all.
And you don’t have to be a writer every second just because you’ve been one for most of your life. You’re allowed to take a break. You’re allowed to write nothing. You’re allowed to write something terrible. You’re allowed to write only for yourself.
Also: you don’t have to have something profound or revolutionary to contribute. Sometimes a story is just made for one person. Sometimes a sentence sticks with them for years. Sometimes you write something just because you wanted it to exist. I think that’s valuable too.
If writing currently feels like a test you’re constantly failing, maybe you could give yourself permission to stop taking the test for a while. Read something you love. Scribble nonsense. Make up characters with no intention of turning them into a story. Write a paragraph that will never leave your drafts. Or don't write at all. Try to find your way back to the part of writing that feels fun ans makey you feel good.
And please remember that you don't have to earn the right to call yourself a writer by producing something that earns a ton of kudos or comments. You are still a writer when you're struggling. You are still a writer when you're resting. You are still a writer when you hate everything you've written.
This very kind and well put. I especially appreciate the comments about letting yourself step back. Back in 2019 I stopped writing cold turkey for 18 months and it's the best decision I ever made as a writer. When I came back, I came back better, stronger, and happier than I'd ever been as a writer to that point, and I started writing in 2012.
