Has anyone read something that made them ACTIVELY SICK? I just reread a part of something I was forced to read in middle school to try to give it a second chance because the author had written some other stuff that was good. FIVE pages in I already wanted to vomit because the characters were so awful.

And it's marketed as a light-hearted, non-satirical comedy.

I'm not kidding when I felt my throat close and something try to come up with how awful it was. Has anyone had that visceral of a reaction to a book being THAT BAD?

I like to think in the Fall in Love You False Angels/Dr.STONE fic that I wrote, Stanley develops a protective dad relationship with Otogi and views her as a surrogate daughter.

He'd be the whole "DON'T get near MY DAUGHTER, YOU PUNK!" type of dad. Otogi nearly dies of embarrassment while Ikkoku tries to explain "She's my girlfriend, dad. We're not married."

This is my current list (from best to worst):

Sims 3 (masterpiece, no notes. 10/10. Best life sim game ever don't @ me. The only downside is no NB or trans sims w/o mods. Everything else is *chefs kiss* perfect.)

Sims 2 (Great step forward from the Sims 1, lots of lore, but still has too many loading screens for my liking)

Paralives (Good and has a LOT of potential, plus trans sims w/o mods, also the updates are free. However, its Paras lack personality and lore. It feels like if Maxis released Sims 3 half-finished, which is essentially what it is. 7.5/10 right now, may rise later with updates.)

Sims 1 (Dark humor, chaos, but only two life stages and still very confined to a single lot)

InZoi (Gen AI, soulless, but no loading screens and decent customization. It's not LGBTQ+ friendly and it's hard to cause chaos. It's mostly cleaning but at least less cash-grabby than Sims 4)

Sims 4 (Soulless, DLC costs over $1200, buggy despite having 10+ years and MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to fix it, shallow worlds, WAY TOO MANY LOADING SCREENS, and awful base game.)

Even as a Catholic, I think it’s beautiful to see Islamic scholarship, which is responsible for some of the greatest advances in human history, depicted with the utmost care and reverence here. No effort was spared in making this as historically and culturally accurate I love that. It’s beautiful to see other faiths and cultures handled with care in anime.

The NEW Attack on Titan??

Just watched Jaadugar: A Witch's Life In Mongolia and DAMN. I think more people died in the first two episodes than did in the first season of Attack on Titan. Like at the end of episode 2 in AOT, Eren STILL had Mikasa and Armin from his hometown. Sitara has NO ONE. Jesus f**k Christ. It's BEAUTIFUL and TERRIFYING.

here’s the thing: you can dislike “Mary Sue” characters. BUT you have to recognize that there are a lot of male characters who meet the same criteria to be considered a Mary Sue (Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker, hello?). So, you either have to dislike those characters as equally you do the female ones, OR, you have to admit you just have a problem with women.

I've often enjoyed non-fiction books more than fiction. I've often struggled to find a lot of fiction books as interesting.

I just realized why: I'm more of a Senku than a Tolkien. I like to explore things like science. A lot. The world is amazing on its own, even without fantasy creatures. From the different biomes of the Earth, to the complexities of the human body, to the leaps in medicine in such a short amount of time, to the insane wonders of space.

History is interesting, too. Learning about the world from different perspectives, whether that be from other races, genders or religions; and seeing all of the events that my school tried to cover up or whitewash.

It's so awesome seeing how intelligent people were in the past, even without the technology that we have now. Paleolithic people were amazing! The Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Chinese were crazy smart! I could only imagine what someone like Archimedes would do if he had a modern computer or access to a university lab!

If only I had more aptitude in mathematics like my father did, I could've been a great scientist. But alas, I am only a mere writer and saleswoman.

I guess what I'm saying is...the real world is fascinating. Horrifying, but fascinating. I guess there's a reason Dr. STONE is my favorite anime.

When I FIRST got into fic writing/reading when I was 10-12, I remember not caring about what a Mary Sue was and just enjoyed all of the self-indulgent self-insert fics. When I got into middle school, I learned about what a "Mary Sue" is and everyone acted like making one was the worst crime one could commit. I was so depressing being so ashamed of my own work and judgmental of others. I'm glad I unlearned that and realized just how misogynist that trend was.

Valar, SOMEONE tell these Uruk-Hai about UNIONS! Saruman is treating them like absolute shit, giving them rotten food as provisions for hard labor 24/7. Is this old POS even paying you guys ANYTHING to go to war for him? Does he give you ANY days off? It'd be so interesting to see a seeping resentment towards Saruman among the Orcs as they secretly organize against him for better wages and working conditions. Like they refuse to go to Helm's Deep until he gives them healthcare and a livable minimum wage.
