it is a free, open-source alternative YouTube front-end. in addition to not having ads, it has other great QoL features like a download button. try one of the several instances on that link up there ^^^^
so i was super pissed and concerned about this but i have just discovered that while this is true, it is apparently only true for google chrome users. i just tested this by having ten tabs open in firefox playing ten different youtube videos at the same time and my cpu usage spiked to 25% as the videos were loading and then dropped back down to 10% as they played.

I bet you're all surprised to see a Murder Drones art from me of all things. And this late? Yeah I got into this series way later than most. Well honestly? MD has become a bit of a comfort to me for a while. Not sure why, I guess I just vibe with it. Not a fixation or anything, but something I can enjoy whenever I feel the need to watch something fun yet intense.
And tbh? I'm a bit nervous to share fanart with such a big fandom. (unlike RainCode being small, this larger fandom intimidates me >.<) I'm NOT in the fandom at all. I'm just a lurker. Making things for my own personal enjoyment. (like always)
Ngl, robot illness has been a fascinating point of topic for me since I was a kid. Some of my favorite characters growing up were robots and only one touched on the subject of a "virus" properly imo. It gave me some room to experiment in my head. Honestly, the Murder Drones are the most humanized robots I've come to know. Especially with the fact they can blush, sweat, vomit, and run high temperatures from overheating (that alone gave me ideas lmao)
And after reading a plethora of MD sickfics on AO3, I realized there is a criminally lacking amount of illness art content for MD. So just as I do, I took matters into my own hands. And attempted to draw various doodles of my favorite relatable little angsty teen going through the worst virus ever... XD (my rule is my faves must suffer lol)
N being there is a total given. That boy is the epitome of a caretaker to Uzi through most of the series. So naturally she'd let her guard down around him. As for her mom, I personally liked Nori and wish she got more screen time. And I personally think her and Uzi would have a solid relationship with each other, though I also see them constantly fighting over the dumbest stuff. I do like to imagine she tries to parent Uzi where her father failed miserably (fuck that guy) so she does her best to be a mom to her when she can. And this is for sure one of those times.
Uzi as a sickie I imagine to be incredibly grumpy and moody. Lashing out at everyone who tries to help, insisting she can handle it on her own, wanting to stay in the dark like the little bat she is, cursing every time her systems malfunctions, steam comes out of her body, or she has to puke oil for the who knows-how-many-ith time.
However, with N... she completely melts into his embrace begging to be doted on by him. Clinging to him tightly yet pretending she's still being tough. At least that's how I see it. She 100% lets her guard down around him and allows herself to be vulnerable in his presence. Because she knows she can count on him, and he'll take good care of her.
That's when I came up with this scenario within my doodles. Uzi wakes up not long before fainting and when Nori stays home while her dad's at work to try and help her, she completely refuses and rejects her mother's care. It becomes too much for Nori so she resorts to contacting N to have his "help" in getting Uzi to cooperate. When he does come by and Uzi lets her guard down, Nori does whatever she can to properly read her code and install the anti-virus. And N tries too by feeding her oil soup...when she has zero appetite.
The device in Nori's claw hand is like a drone's version of a thermometer, basically a scan to read a drone's coding and seeing if any of it is corrupted by a virus. Idk I just make things up as I go... XD Despite being absent from Uzi's life, I think Nori does still care and worry for her daughter as a mother would, and she'd still try to help in her own way even if Uzi refuses it. She's trying her best ;w;
The doodles are completely out of order, but hopefully they still tell the story kind of. To any MD fans that see this, just know that I yap a LOT about my art sometimes. So kudos if you read allat... x'D

"making them afraid will make them more racist" that's wild to me, because we live in a whole culture of social consequences for antiracism anyway. It is literally safer to be a racist than it is to speak up against it, socially.
Idk about you, but "I'm afraid no one will want to be my friend if I'm a white supremacist" seems like a pretty logical thought process to have, and I wish THAT were the normal and not "I'm afraid my friends will hate me if I tell them they made racist jokes".
So earlier this week I, in a single sitting, wrote up the prologue chapter for my upcoming Murder Drones sequel longfic (tentatively titled Rest My Soul for You). However, since I don't want to officially publish it to AO3 until chapter 1 is close to being complete, and I plan to focus mostly on writing one-shots for Nuzi week, its going to be awhile till then. Thus I decided to just post the prologue here as a WIP. I hope you guys enjoy and please tell me what you think.
Prologue: Gone Thereafter [Forever]
The sword stabbed deep into her sternum. For a moment she felt nothing but white-hot agony as the blade parted flesh and split bone, driven to the hilt by inhuman mechanical strength. A small voice in the back of her mind, distant, weak, fading, reminded her that she always forgot that. Always forgot how much stronger they were than her. How easy it would be for them to hurt her.
She had never wanted to think about that. She'd always thought they would never hurt her.
In the end they hadn't of their own will. But hurt her they had all the same.
āIt's not your fault,ā she tried to say. Her body refused to obey her commands. It hurt so bad, dragging out every instant in an eternity.
Her vision narrowed, the world growing dark and grey before her, until she could only see the face staring back at her. Expression blank, once white eyes replaced by a yellow āXā. She couldnāt help but wonder if the drone she knew was still there. Was she gone too?
The very thought thrust itself as deep inside her chest as the sword had.
Instinctively, she grabbed weakly at the blade, trying in vain to pull it free, cutting her hands on its razor edge. She barely felt it anymore. Searing pain turned to numbing cold, as if the metal plunged into her chest had turned to ice.
She tried again to speak. She couldn't. Blood welled up in her mouth. It felt cold, not hot like blood ought to have. Like ice water pooling from her lips. She raised a hand, stained with her own blood, up to the face of her friend, leaving bloody fingerprints against the metal, glass, and silicon.
For the briefest of moments, the visor that stared back flickered. Revealing, for just a moment, hollow eyes filled with shock and grief.
āI'm sorry,ā she mouthed, frozen blood continuing to well with every attempted word. It was all she could manage, uttering those words alone a near insurmountable effort. She wished she could say more. To tell the drone it wasn't their fault. That she only had herself to blame for all this.
I should have listenedā¦
Her vision closed as the cold overtook her. It didn't even hurt anymore, all sensation buried in the ice.
I'm sorryā¦
Her last thought was of her friends. Of how she'd never get to say goodbye. Never tell them she was sorry.
I should have never made you worryā¦
She barely felt the frozen metal as it was pulled free from her chest. Only the even deeper empty cold that rushed in to replace it. Her knees buckled. She was falling, swallowed by the darkness. She didn't feel her body hit the floor. She only felt the cold. It was the last thing she ever felt.
That should have been the last sensation she ever felt.
It wasn't.
A new sensation filled her consciousness. An oily shadow that seeped inside her mind. It felt wrong. Unclean. Nothingness bound into horrible form.
āI told. You. I. Will not discard. You.ā
She tried to scream, to plead with the presence. But she had nothing from which to speak, no form or will. Every thought was an agony, each ember of consciousness dragging her back into pain.
Through the cold she could feel it, numbly. The sensation of snapped bones and ripping flesh. A body defiled, warped to a new terrible purpose.
It hurt.
It was wrong.
Please, let it stop.
āDon't cry. I will. Keep. You. Here with me. Forever.ā
The oily shadows washed over her, filling every part of her soul, dragging her down into the cold blackness that awaited her. Yet nothingness never came. No escape granted her. No oblivion to take the pain away.

Distantly, she could still feel through the defiled corpse, tethered to it in unnatural life through the thing bonded to it.
Why do I feel likeā¦
She didnāt even know if it was her body anymore. She couldn't remember. It hurts to think. Every spark of awareness was torture.
Why am I alone in thisā¦
She drifted in a frozen void. Time ceased to matter. And an endless depth that stretched on forever.
Cold.
Pain.
Numbness
The sensations intertwined, becoming one and the same.
Alone, suffering in the iceā¦
Suddenly she was ripped from the void, dreamlike flashes of sensations from a body not her own, but which also was, overtaking her. Every moment is a nightmare from which she could not awake.
~She watched from a rooftop. Perched on the edge, legs crossed. A voice giggled, distorted. Was it hers? Below, three drones tore apart a still screaming human, drowning his dying cries in the sound of tearing flesh. Blood splattered their āXā displayed visors, viscera glinting wet on their claws and bladed wings
The giggles grew louder, with each twitching movement that accompanied the sound bringing with it the sensation of skin stretching and tearing over cold metal~
She fell again, plummeting into darkness once more.
Pleaseā¦ let me restā¦
Another dream. Another nightmare.
~She sat on a broken shard of rock, overlooking a sundered world. A void, a hole in reality at its core, wreathed in sickly yellow light. Tendrils of the stuff writhed from the center, pulling in more of the once-world. As she watched, she felt the satisfaction of a mind not her own, felt her lips tear as they were pulled open into an inhuman smile~
She tried to scream as the nightmare ceased. But she couldn't. She had nothing. It hurt so bad; why was it making her remember? Making her see? Making her think? Making her be?
I'm emptyā¦
Another eternity passed. Another flash of sensation ended it.
~She shared the faceplate of a spacesuit helmet. It was dark, so very dark. She could make out little of her reflection. Just the shape. The outline. It was twisted
It was wrong.
She couldn't even remember what she looked like. But it wasn't this. She hadn't been this.
She could only see the eyes clearly. Or where her eyes should have been. In their place were two āXās burning yellow in the dark~
Again darkness returned, but it brought no relief. It never brought an end.

~āWe are almost. There. Soon. Smile. I am so. Very. Hungry. Are you ready, my favorite little. Employee?ā came the voice from her mouth, speaking to another just out of view.~
That was her voice. She couldn't remember her own voice, but she knew. Knew it wasn't hers.
~āYeah, sure thing, bossā¦ā came another voice.~
The voice. It was familiar. Why did she know it? Why did it hurt her so?
It sounded sad. Broken. That hurt the most.
~āYou don't. Sound. Very. Excited. Do I need to. Motivate. You? Perhaps. How about. I talk using. Her. Voice. Again? Wouldn't that. Help. Hmmm?ā~
āNo, Iā¦ not right now. I'm good, boss. Ready to get to work.ā~

The sensations came faster now. One after another, each a jolt that brought her out from the frozen nightmare and into a waking one.

~Teeth snapping closed around her hand. Blood splattering the metal floor~
~Pulling off her glove, pressing a finger against the reader. She barely felt it. Just the cold around her~
It was too much. She was so tired. She wanted to rest. Why wouldnāt it stop? Why wouldnāt it just let her go?

She wanted it to end. But it wouldnāt let her. It would never let herā¦
~A razor blade flashed, its razor edge glinting as it came to rest on her neck.
āYou knew about the patch, yes or no? One chance,ā warned a voice behind her. Another familiar voice, one she felt she knew.
I know him. I donāt rememberā¦ Who amā¦ Who am Iā¦
She turned her head, just a bit. Eyes flicking to the side, falling upon the drone behind her. A hard expression on his face. Determined. One eye an āXā, the other narrowed. Warning her.
I know himā¦ canāt rememberā¦ Heā¦ differentā¦ butā¦ That faceā¦ that voiceā¦ Why do Iā¦
āCuteā¦ā came her own reply. From her, but not from her.

She pressed a finger against the tip of the blade, pushing it just a centimeter away from her neck. āYou know why I keep you around, Nāā
The blade flashed. Pain lanced through her neck, and it cut deep. Cold.~
The dream ended, but the pain and cold lingered, echoing through her.

For the first time since she could remember, she was able. She screamed and screamed. Other voices joined hers, so many others joined hers in a cacophony that swallowed everything andā
Darkness.
Silence.
She was falling, plummeting endlessly into nothingness. Then she saw them. The flickering lights at the edge of her vision. Streams of code, flashing in the dark. Pulsing yellow, then purple, then yellow, then purple again. After and faster, pulsing with greater and greater intensity. She heard a voice. Distant. Familiar. Calling out. But not to her.
There was a flash, blinding white and thenā¦
The streams of data calmed. Some purple. Some yellow. Some gradients of the two colors. Drifting past as she continued to fall, sinking deeper into the abyssā¦
At lastā¦ the pain was goneā¦ She feltā¦ nothingā¦

~A razor blade flashed, its razor edge glinting as it came to rest on her neck.
āYou knew about the patch, yes or no? One chance,ā warned a voice behind her. Another familiar voice, one she felt she knew.

She turned her head, just a bit. Eyes flicking to the side, falling upon the drone behind her. A hard expression on his face. Determined. One eye an āXā, the other narrowed. Warning her.
I know himā¦ canāt rememberā¦ Heā¦ differentā¦ butā¦ That faceā¦ that voiceā¦ Why do Iā¦
āCuteā¦ā came her own reply. From her, but not from her.

She pressed a finger against the tip of the blade, pushing it just a centimeter away from her neck. āYou know why I keep you around, Nāā
The blade flashed. Pain lanced through her neck, and it cut deep. Cold.~
The dream ended, but the pain and cold lingered, echoing through her.

~A hand thrust deep into her chest, seizing hold of something wet and pulsating. A drone, one she didnāt recognize, stood before her. It shouted, tearing the thing from the corpse that was no longer herā~
She no longer felt it. The sensation was gone. Darkness. Where wasā
Searing light filled the darkness. Hot. Burning her, obliterating everything around her. It hurt. Hurt worse than all the eternity of torment. She tried to scream. For the first time since she could remember, she was able. She screamed and screamed. Other voices joined hers, so many others joined hers in a cacophony that swallowed everything andā
Darkness.
Silence.
She was falling, plummeting endlessly into nothingness. Then she saw them. The flickering lights at the edge of her vision. Streams of code, flashing in the dark. Pulsing yellow, then purple, then yellow, then purple again. After and faster, pulsing with greater and greater intensity. She heard a voice. Distant. Familiar. Calling out. But not to her.
There was a flash, blinding white and thenā¦
The streams of data calmed. Some purple. Some yellow. Some gradients of the two colors. Drifting past as she continued to fall, sinking deeper into the abyssā¦
