Pretty Black Bird
Floating on calm
Zephyr winds.
She lands soft
On slender
She-Oak twig.
Singing, she
Fills the air
with sweet words.
I just saw a guy wearing a suit and sunnies get into a black car with tinted windows and the number plate FBI 911 HMMMMMMMMM....

A toppling domino can push over a larger domino, but how much bigger must the next one be?
The Small Knocking Down the Big is a 2009 installation by Chinese artist Qiu Zhijie made from hundreds of cut wooden dominoes meant to loosely demonstrate the effects of something that has become known as Domino Magnification. The basic premise is that any domino can knock over another domino that’s roughly 1.5 times larger, meaning that if you gently pushed a normal sized domino into a chain of bricks that increase in size each time by 1.5, the 32nd object will be large enough to topple the Empire State Building! Source.
An insight into the mathematics and the physics behind Domino Magnification can be found in this cool article.

A year on the road
Hey there guys, so its been a year since I left Dubbo. In that time, I have traveled roughly 81000km, or the equivalent of two times around the world. As a kind of a hooray action, I have made an archive of all our travels. If you want to see just the travel posts from the past year (with none of the other random posts), follow the link below:

I will keep that as a permanent archive. Thanks again for sharing this trip.

Angola:
Islam Banned in Angola
While the constitution in Angola guarantees freedom of religion to all of its citizens, this right no longer seems to apply to the followers of the now banned religion of Islam. According to numerous newspapers in Angola, the African nation has banned the Islamic religion. It has become the first country in the world to take such a harsh stance against Muslims.
On November 22, the Angolan Minister of Culture Rosa Cruz e Silva said that “[t]he process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights [and so] their mosques would be closed until further notice.” Why the religion needs to be legalized has not been definitively stated by Cruz e Silva.
Cruz e Silva has also said that the closing of mosques is the most recent move in Angola’s effort to but a stop to so-called illegal religious sects. Under new laws in Angola, many religious sects have suddenly become criminal.
On November 24, Angola President José Eduardo dos Santos said that the country is working toward putting an end to Islamic influence in Angola once and for all. Again, there is no word of what or who has been influenced and why it needs to stop.
The Governor of Luanda, Bento Bento, has said that “radical” Muslims are not welcome in the country and that the Angolan government will not be legalizing mosques or other places of worship for Muslims.
Police also killed an opposition member and detained 292 protesters.
When I first came across this, I refused to believe it. Then I kept reading and researching and my heart is breaking. I truly hope I am wrong and this is not happening. More attention needs to be paid to the political situation in Angola.

Time of my life
Like even the softest toilet paper roll, this part of our journey has come to an end. I say this part because both Casey and I are adamant we will travel again. This trip has made and changed me. It has taught me some of my most important lessons. It has inspired me both in my writing and in my future. I would not trade the experiences or friendships for any amount of money.
From the carved marble features of the Taj Mahal to the weather beaten granite slabs of The Great Pyramid of Giza. From the tech filled shops of Tokyo to the filthy run down street stalls of Old Delhi. From the refreshing Lassi shop in Jaisalmer to the amazing shake bar on Koh Phangan. From the ancient stillness and tranquility of a mountain top temple in Cambodia to the glory and splendor of Akshardham temple in Delhi. From the delicious and affordable Bimbimbap of South Korea to the sour pancakes and stew of Ethiopia. From the Old family friends we caught up with in India to the many many incredible people we met throughout the whole journey.
I have thoroughly enjoyed it all. The ups and the downs all contributed to the best experience of my life so far. I can't wait to go back. Already, just a month back, I can feel my very bones aching to book a cheap flight to Thailand. Find a cheap hostel in Bangkok, and see the Islands again, before making my way out across South East Asia. For the next little while, however, I must stay in Australia..... Not sure what is next for me to be honest. Maybe Uni next year. More probably, I'll head to the coast somewhere and try to find work so I can save for my next trip. Casey meanwhile says he will be back in Port Lincoln saving money for his next trip.
It has also been a great joy to share these experiences with my brother Casey. We have always been close, and I am glad to say that these travels have not diminished that. It is fantastic to have a traveling companion whom you can trust, rely on and get along with.
Thankyou to everyone who enjoyed this travel with us through this blog. I will continue maintaining this blog, and one day, I will use it for my travel blog again.
I Love you all unconditionally.
