Tumblbee

I was very surprised to see this and a little annoyed. I guess I didn’t phrase it well, and it got misinterpreted. I also left out key information. The info I left out is that I’m half deaf and I often don’t hear my phone. If I have my phone on me (which I usually do) I can feel the buzz of my text and know someone is trying to contact me. (why wasn’t my ringer on vibrate as well as my text notifications? I’m not sure, past me wasn’t thinking it through.)

Because I am half deaf, I also can’t tell where sounds come from, so it takes me a long time to find my phone when it’s ringing and not by my side. I also have extreme phone anxiety and there are a maximum of 4 people I am willing to talk to over the phone, and I almost never answer phone calls from numbers I don’t recognize.

Here are things I could’ve done but didn’t: 

Left my phone on vibrate for phone calls too while carrying it with me wherever I go while waiting so I’ll feel it if I don’t hear it. (I do this now, but didn’t previously. Well, I TRY to always have it on me.)

Take a deep breath and remember that the number is most likely not a scam or a person trying to hurt me. It’s probably just the instacart person.

Don’t answer because of anxiety BUT go downstairs the second I get the phone call, just in case it’s really the instacart person.

I understand their frustration and am not mad at them at all whatsoever. I probably seemed rude and entitled. But that’s just the backstory. I wanted to respond and politely tell them what the situation was and how I could’ve handled it differently, but yeah.

They were also mad that the one employee who texted me instead of called, I called “that dude” on twitter. The reason I called him that was not everyone likes to be called out by name on social media, and also it didn’t seem necessary? And twitter has a limit to how many characters I can use. 

And then they got mad and insinuated that I don’t tip well even though I DO. I used to live off tips and I know the importance of it. I thought it was odd that they assumed I tip poorly.
