sometimes I wish I was a bee,

but bees aren't solitary creatures

unlike me.

although sometimes it would be nice

to know that there's always a hive

ready to welcome me home

Do you ever talk to the sky

Because it’s blue

Because it’s quiet

Because it’s there

And does it ever reply

Not out loud of course, there are more ways of talking than with words

don’t worry if you’re afraid to follow your dreams, 

just tuck them into your pocket 

they’ll find a bit of soil 

and bloom gently on their own 

so when you’re ready to jump into the unknown

they’ll be there for you 

growing out of your pockets 

reminding you what dreams are  

and asking to be planted in a bigger garden 

Somewhere,

In a deep, dark wood

the evening fog sweeps in 

the trees begin to disappear 

sounds become muted 

a ghostly feeling pervades the air 

the place where magic is created 

is softly beginning to slumber 

to have a fire outside - 

crackling, sparking energy 

smoke is carried by the wind 

it burns your eyes

but you don’t mind 

the only light is flickering 

and when you get inside, 

your clothes are infused 

with the smell of smoke 

there is nothing more alive than a garden 

holding little seedlings of life ready to happen 

breathing deeply, 

coming back down to earth and burying your hands in it

feeling the sun on your back  

walking along the small path seeing the magic happen around you 

tasting the sweet tomatoes off a vine 

everything is alive and it’s beautiful 

sometimes it feels lonely 

even with a cat for company 

looking across the trees 

feeling the wind tug at your solitude 

sometimes it feels sad 

even though the sky is listening 

even if your bed is warm 

and sometimes it feels lost 

even when you know where you are 

go out and pick some wildflowers 

inhale their scent

let it permeate your body and spread calm

hold them gently, 

infuse them with love and good energy 

and give them to a friend 

what is it to be free? 

is it walking in the woods together 

the sunlight making your white dress glow 

your hair catching in the wind

is it running through a field with abandon 

not waiting for them to catch up 

feeling your bare feet hit the ground and sink in ever so slightly 

or is it simply being alone 

standing in the sun with your eyes closed 

tasting the goodness of the day on your tongue 

sink your fingertips into the moss 

feel it softly like you would a cat 

stroke the earth and give her love

notice the new life growing 

it’s spring and things are living 

aren’t you lucky to be living too

lay on your back in the grass

scream into the sky just because you can 

taste the freedom

it’s exhilarating

feel the moon energize your body

absorb its healing glow

let it be the only light you see 

and let go

burn candles on windowsills 

let small lights illuminate 

relax in a drowsy dusk

sink into meditation and let go 

open your mind to nothingness 

close your eyes  

breath in -- and breath out 

let your soft breath extinguish the flame 

sit in darkness now 

savour it 

look up 

don’t forget the magic in the sky 

find freedom in the leaves

let the green seep into your skin 

find strength in the trees 

see the light shining through the canopy 

tell your secrets to the silence 

whispers swept away with wind 

in my house 

life hangs from the ceiling 

magic is a breeze in the air 

the scent of spring fills my nose 

in my house 

love sinks into the floorboards 

light streams through the windows 

happiness is so strong you can smell it 

this is my home 

eyes with truth and spark

beautiful and full of life 

black cats hold magic

Perhaps in the haze it is hard to see it, but we are
