this triggered a by-election in his constituency. he immediately announced he would be running for his seat he resigned from. an obvious farce to flex the support he supposedly has.
thing is every other political party could tell what he was doing so boycotted the election.

He's been a joke candidate for some time. In the UK anyone can run in elections, you just need ten signatures from residents and £500. This time, he genuinely has a chance of winning. Without the other major parties to split the vote, he could potentially unite the anti Reform vote in Clacton and win Nigel's seat
so Nigel will either win and the investigation into him will continue, which will lead to him being fired, OR he loses his seat to a man with a bin on his head.
heartstopper forever was a very nice way to wrap up nick and charlie's story and an overall definitely enjoyable film, but the movie format instead of a season definitely harmed the pacing and the ability to include the rest of the cast we love so much. it feels like no one outside them had any story and they all had like 3 lines, which is sad! I like the movie but I wish we had a better send-off for all of those characters
Also I feel like such a boomer but these kids need to learn about phone calls. Don't try to have a serious conversation about your potential breakup over text what the actual fuck.

i enjoyed heartstopper forever but damn it's really so obvious it was supposed to be a season not a film. it goes between episodic plot points but never has the time to develop each enough, allow moments to breathe or give us time with characters other than nick and charlie.
annoyed that netflix didn't give the heartstopper the final season it deserved, but at least it got the dignity of an end (rest in piece inside job, dead boy detectives and lockwood & co.)

something that i find interesting about independent animation nowadays is that if you don't have studio/streamer backing, you have to release your work yourself on the internet, but you have to do it for free on the internet because virtually nobody is going to be willing to accept a paywall just for one original show, so what you have to do in order to make any money off of it is make all of your money from merchandising, but then this means that you show must be merchandisable and have very toyetic character designs that translate easily to plushies and whatnot, but then you also need to cater your show to people who are disproportionately inclined to buy merchandise like that in the first place so that your sales can be enough to sustain you, which means that even if you want to communicate complex or difficult ideas in your work, your independent animation project must attract (at least on a first impression) and retain viewers who are both very consumerist and very capable of rabid passion, which unfortunately has a single-circle shaped venn diagram with a lot of the most toxic fandom tendencies known to man, and this explains a lot of things about independent animation and its fandoms nowadays I think
