1. Aroallo

Honestly I just feel like this is canon. We never see Grace respond to romantic gestures, but we do see her experience sexual attraction. Also in another world where her npmd plotline is written differently, it’d be an interesting commentary on how purity culture *especially* demonizes sex without romantic attraction, and we could’ve gotten a plotline where Grace deconstructs that and finally has a normal relationship with sex.

2. Aroace

This is purely off of Grace in Abby Camp.

I feel like AC was very much so an npmd test run, and due to that I feel like the characters are like first drafts of their final draft versions.

I know canonically they’re the same, but a lot of the time I view AC as its own sort of thing thus this headcanon. (Also there was a time when AC Grace was the ONLY Grace we had and I think that matters)

She reads similarly to my demi ass thinking “wow guys, this celibacy thing is easy! Idk why you all can’t keep it in your pants!” Like girl, I fear you are playing a different game. (Not to say purity culture didn’t harm her still, it did so in different ways)

3. Bisexual

This is where things get a bit more wibbly wobbly. Obviously we’ve seen her have sexual attraction to Max, and maybe this is the lautity lover and Halogear ally in me talking, but I just think Grace is the kind of person to obliviously have crushes on girls.

I think specifically Steph makes sense, Grace misguidedly but earnestly tries to help her in AC, and in NPMD there are some physical contact moments that seem genuine and affectionate (where in contrast she manhandles some of the other characters).

Again, I have lautity bias, but in general I feel like Grace’s connection with Steph reads as more positive than any of her other relationships (*more* positive, not fully positive though, it’s like moving from -5 to -2. Like, yeah it’s closer to a positive number but it’s still negative)

Also these two things are like half evidence each, but

a) that time in Abby camp where a councilor gets on grace’s ass for hugging Steph, implying something gay out of the inocous interaction. Grace brushes it off but it’s still something to note as the writters chose for it to be Steph and Grace being called out for this and not say Steph and Pete or Grace and Pete.

b) this one is even more of a reach but when Grace says “she’s bisexual and dead where else would she be” is a sign to me. In the homophobic environments I was raised in the terminology was just “same sex attraction, homosexuality, gay,” and sometimes “lesbian.” Bisexuality wasn’t even an option and the fact Grace knows what it is could reveal her picking up stuff from others or maybe she even inquired herself. Regardless, her choice to use the term bisexual instead of these other terms reveals at least a minor understanding of the label and why it is distinct from the others. (I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist)

4. Lesbian

Lowkey the headcanon I write about/think about/talk about the most but also the least canon lol. It’s most similar to my experience so it interests me the most what can I say.

This one relies on reading a lot of her interactions with Max (and romance and sex in general) as comphet WHICH I would argue is actually very canon.

I think every single Grace headcanon on this list deserves a big red COMPHET WORLD CHAMPION badge next to it. All Graces live under the pressure to be the perfect Christian suburban wife, and that impacts all of their choices.

Even if you’re a straight Grace truther you have to admit (or don’t you have free will) that Grace is more enamored with the idea of being the perfect Christian woman/wife than she is with a real relationship.

Anyways, lesbian Grace is very similar to my opinions on bi Grace, but because she’s a lesbian, she doesn’t have any attraction to men and thus anything involving that must fake/forced (But yes I know you can be bi and still fake crushes on men etc etc but yk what I mean). It also means that she can’t lean on any other sort of genuine attraction she might experience for men because it’s not there.

Again I think this is the least canon, purely because it’s not what the writing implies (to me) intentionally or unintentionally.

I will say I think all Graces on this list overtly or not are at the very least a little bit a-spec but that may just be my personal bias.

Also I feel like comphet is just a packaged deal with Christian religious trauma so that applies to all of these too imo
