"We won't teach this at school because parents are supposed to address it at home." Anything that puts all of the child's power onto the parents' hand, anything that assumes parents are going to inherently do enough of a good job no one else needs to interfer, every single one of these IS going to be used by controlling, neglectful or unprepared parents and already are, and if the system did not account for that very real, tangible, dangerous tendency, then it's not worth fucking anything. You shouldn't make things "for the youth"/with children in mind if you are going to overlook this painfully common aspect of their lives u_u

makeup culture is wack and normalizes a ludicrously high bar as the bare minimum women can do. I saw a “lazy"makeup tutorial the other day that listed 22 separate goddamn products. you’re supposed to buy and know how to use 22 different things on your face just for the privilege of being considered lazy and that’s uuuuuuh what’s the word? bullshit.

Really, five products could work, even 3. Just frame the face, eyes, lips, and you’re done.

because I’m gonna be real here, the idea that 22 products is a minimum sucks but it’s really upsetting that any amount of makeup is the bare minimum at all

I would really just suggest some powder foundation, concealer, mascara and lipgloss/lipstick, or tbh just mascara works too, but that’s up to you

I’m sorry if I didn’t express this clearly enough in the original post but I’m not really looking for more concise makeup regiments. my intention was to point out how it’s Bad that makeup is considered a bare minimum at all, regardless of individual feelings on the matter

no face should be “required” to have “a minimum” of makeup. makeup has no health benefits and does nothing but fill the pockets of companies that prey on women and our insecurities.

makeup should not be seen as hygiene because it isnt. get that shit out of your head.

This is one of those posts that altered my brain chemistry.

It's the word *need*

You do not need any makeup. You will not die without it. You will not be unclean or disturb the people around you without it. The fact that anyone has convinced us we need makeup at all is ridiculous.

Even if you like makeup, like me, it's helpful to remember that you don't need any of it. The amount of times I've caught myself being late to work and saying oh shit I need to put on makeup still or oh im sooo tired but ugh I have to put on makeup. No you don't. You don't need to. Half the population is allowed to walk into work with no makeup on and they don't explode and die. Neither will you.

If you like makeup, only do makeup you like when you like to. Don't let anyone convince you any makeup is required. If you like eyeliner, do eyeliner when you feel like doing your eyeliner and don't let anyone convince you that you also *neeeeeeeeeed* need need need other products. I dont own foundation or concealer because im not a huge fan of the idea that my face isnt fine the way it is. I still like doing my makeup and thats why I own eyeliner and fun eyeshadows, but any time I find myself thinking that I need any of it, I remember this post. The bare minimum is zero.
