When I was a kid, “barbie.com” looked like this

But now, if you type “Barbie.com” you’re taken immediately to Mattel’s online shop, surrounded by nothing but “shop now” links and toy collections.

Disney channel’s website is now “Disneynow.com” which still has games and shows appropriate for kids, but is aimed towards a younger audience as it combines Disney Jr and Disney Channel properties, and the look of the entire site is very juvenile and not very appealing to kids in the tween and young teen demographics.

Nick.com has been similarly streamlined and is focused primarily on streaming its shows, and the only games still left are 10 apps that can’t be played on browser.

Kid-friendly sites like icarly.com, Poptropica, Club Penguin, Neopets, Webkinz etc used to be insanely relevant and popular spaces built for kids and tweens.

Now, kids are being funneled into less moderated, more exploitative, and more public spaces like Roblox (its dangerous and exploitative nature exposed in these videos from People Make Games: (x) (x)), Fortnite (known for its gambling and microtransaction issues), and social media sites like TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter.

My elementary aged cousins spend their time on Roblox, YouTube, and some less than reputable game sites that are full of ads and stolen/reposted/reskinned games. My sister was on Musically/Tiktok and Twitter in middle school. They don’t have the same options for having fun online that I did when I was a kid, especially not when they get too old for nickjr and disneynow.

If you take their name, then you can’t even get near me. I’ll bite your bones off

This shit has dragged on for so fucking long as has brought up SO MUCH CHAOS in the trans community. It harms kids that think they’re trans but this makes them think “what if I don’t hate my body enough???”, so if you decide to take this name for yourself go off.

Just don’t expect me to be nice and sunshiney about it

The onset of these disorders is usually early-mid teen years, when you’re really starting to figure yourself out. Even if you don’t know these disorders Exist, there’s still tons of media and pop culture that will tell you that certain traits you possess make you a Sociopath, and sociopaths are evil and irredeemable. Your peers also receive these messages, so they won’t be afraid to point out when you’re showing these traits. You start forming a picture in your mind of the kind of person you are, BASED AROUND THE SOCIOPATH CARICATURE. And it doesn’t help that it’s common for cluster Bs to have an unstable sense of self, so we often just performatively fit ourselves into this mold that society force fed us without realizing it.

And if you Do know about these disorders, how do you think it makes a kid feel to look up their symptoms to try to learn what’s wrong with you and see all this shit about how abusive and dangerous you are. A kid who is trying to figure out what’s wrong with them and sees that the answer is that they’re destined to become an abuser or murderer. I’d be willing to bet this is a nearly universal experience we’ve all had. This shit Fucks Us Up. You literally cannot understand how damaging this is unless you’ve lived it, honestly I can’t even describe how traumatizing it can be.

Whether or not cats are capable of love is also a debate for some reason despite the fact that anyone whose ever had a relationship with a cat will tell you that, yes indeed they do love. Yet the people who believe cats are incapable of love choose to not believe people with meaningful experiences with cats. Cats don't owe you proof that they're capable of love but if you form a connection with them they'll genuinely and sincerely show you love.
