Dettlaff Van Der Eretein
Dettlaff van der Eretein is an Original Vampire from the Sanguine Vampiris race. He is a powerful Vampire able to use the ancient blood magic at a great level but he does not use it.
He and Ruby are bond beyond time. He has been her first lover, they have been united by the ancients sacraments of the Vampires during the time they have ruled Earth. He knows Ruby and her Father for a so long time and quite never leave their sides.
Before Ruby, he has already known love. Dettlaff does not know half measures, when he loves, its absolute, painful, entirely, no questions. His visions is black or white, nowadays he keeps learning nuances.
But when this love has been betrayed, he became the worst part of him, a monster. A vampire without hope or landmarks, someone who make him stay him and not leaving him into darkness.
And when he became this giant, scaring giant vampire, none seem to be able to stop him.
One tries. Ruby.
She stepped in front of him and knelt. and open her arms, looking at him without fear. And remind him that he has never been a monster to her, he is family, she needs him forever.
He turned back to humanoid form, and Ruby took care of him until his total recover.
Since this day, and also because they had been bond by blood magic, Dettlaff is deeply attached, faithful and loyal to her. He still love her and has difficulties to let her being with others men and taking risks. He sometimes confuses love and imprisonment, but he is in fear of losing her. Their bond allows him to feel her wherever she is. he can therefore feel if she is well, if she is not injured but sometimes it is not enough to keep him in control.
Nowadays, he is always or quite, by her side. He protected her too strongly sometimes. Ruby is the center of his universe, his only reason he has not turnt into a butcher among humans. He dislikes humanity as before, and he prefers to stay at the mansion and avoid them. But he knows all humans protocols so he can adapt himself among them.
Dettlaff doesn't understand men, their world, its rules, its conventions. He's naĂŻve, in a sense. He doesn't comprehend your games, knows not what it means to lie, deceive.
He is also very attached to Regis, father of Ruby and his ancient Lord. Only he or Ruby can stop Dettlaff if he looses temper, that what happen regularly.
¤¤ History of the Havens ¤¤
Havens were bastions of the Sanguine Vampiris Race, They were powerful, technologically advanced, and quite sentients.
Usually places of knowledge and sciences, they become essentials when Vampire race start to fall.
After their defeat, most of Havens have been destroyed or used by humans or abnormals.
A few are alive nowadays and hidden from humans.
đš What is a Haven?
The Havens are supernatural refuges, independent of the Sanctuaries of Helen Magnus, which ensure protection, balance and regulation in shadow societies. Each Haven is ruled by a cell of wise and powerful supernatural beings (ex: Kent Nelson, Clara Oswald, Howard StarkâŚ). Unlike official Sanctuaries, the Havens operate without permission from human governments.
𧏠Role and functions of the Havens:
Monitoring and regulation of powerful supernatural beings.
Preservation of ancient and secret lineages (pure-blood vampires, first-line lycansâŚ).
Negotiation of inter-species pacts or treaties.
Discretion, but logistical and magical power.
Hosting isolated or unstable creatures, provided you respond.
Counterweight to Helen Magnus and her scientific drifts.

John Constantine ft. Matt Ryan
(Possible Spoilers Ahead)
John Constantine is the so known "Master of The Dark Arts" from the DC Comics Universe - TV Arrowverse.
Five years after he disappears after he has been left to death, he came to the Haven to see an old friend of his, who is still alive. Ruby. In reality he was in search for a place he would be able to stay a while (even its not in his habits)
Ruby and him, it's a kind of very old story. She found him when he was a teen trying to convoke forces he can't tame. He was half dead, in a place that's no one would found him. She appeared and gave him her blood, giving him the strenght to survive, but not stopping his magic tries.
He has tried many times to disgust her, to make her go away, but he has never been able to do so, because Ruby stayed, without been scared or worried to what can happen to her. She is one of the longest staying person by the side of John, who has not died.
Things have never been simple for these two. John has never admitted that he needed her. She was there when he sold the soul of Astra after summoning a demon without guarantees. This time, John has succeed to push her enough, that she left him doing his ritual and lost everything. Not a lesson, just a try to make him open his eyes.
Later they have a more sexual relationship, one night shot many times and Ruby keeps an eye on him. Even he never said it franckly, maybe having her in the shadows made him feel less alone.
When John came back to life, after selling his soul to an another Demon, and when he needed a place to rest, its was by the side of Ruby he found some temporary peace.
It was only for some weeks and weeks became months and months became five years. He is not an agent of the Haven, but he is known and tolerated by the others Havens. Ruby lets him to do what he does, but stop him when he forces the way to his own destruction (as usual)
She is not afraid of his rude words, the smoke of his cigarettes or the Bourbon he drinks. She knows the boy, the teen and the man behind the mask of the unbearable and broken loner. He can say anything he wants she would stay by his side, even she had to break some of his inners demons...

Gwyn kind of came out of nowhere. Basically, they just said, "Do whatever you want." I said, "I want him to be Welsh. I want him to be like a little bit bonkers. I want him to be a complete opposite to Constantine." There wasn't too much planning with it. I knew what I wanted to do, but I just kind of had to trust that it was in there and I wanted to do something so different to John. They offered up the part that they think that he should be gay and we had a conversation about that and in terms of the dynamic of the group, bringing someone in with a problem with his sexuality that Gwyn had from a religious background. To have someone who's deeply religious in 1925 and is gay, what's going on in his head? How is he coping with that? The one thing I was very conscious of was doing a character on [Legends of Tomorrow] that would bring something to the group which the group didn't already have because they'd lost John and I didn't want to bring another John. I wanted to bring something else that would complement the group. And also someone who's discovering time travel for the first time and is in awe of it.

John Smith aka. The Metacrisis Doctor ft. Peter Capaldi
The Metacrisis Doctor is the result of the missed regeneration of the 12th Doctor when he refused to regenerate somewhere in a differet timeline. This tremendous energy tore the very fabric of reality for an instant and appeared in bones and flesh on Earth During The Reign of Sanguine Vampiris...
When we first discover him, it was really long time ago... When the Vampire Civilization was all powerful and ruling on the Humans. The Metacrisis Doctor was really respected and known for his wide knowledge of everything and his abnormal metabolism. He was non human nor Vampire, But he has two hearts, He doesn't age. He doesn't approve the reign of the Vampire, but did not take part in the war between humanity and Vampire Race.
Heâs seen the Sanguine Vampiris born, rise and decline. Heâs lived alongside them long enough to be respected as one of their own kind of âotherâ, a non-human who understands longevity, hunger, and the compromises you make just to keep going. Heâs known the DettlaffâRĂŠgisâRuby triad long before the modern Havens existed, watching their story the way a doctor watches both an illness and a miracle at the same time.
He went through time, has been wounded, quite killed, he has won he has lost, He has made friends and ennemies. He has helped hundreds of people without regarding if they were humans or abnormals. He is still fundamentally the same as in Doctor Who: a grumpy old professor trapped in a body that has seen too much, understood too much, and loves far too deeply to admit it without wrapping everything in dark humour. He talks fast, thinks even faster, cuts people off before they finish their sentences, and often looks like heâs judging everyone⌠when in reality, heâs mostly judging himself. Heâs insanely intelligent, built entirely on guilt, responsibility, and a stubborn refusal to stop protecting the living, even when the personal cost is unbearable. He has that very particular way of throwing out a sharp comment, then staying anyway, watching over someone, holding their hand all night like itâs the most ordinary thing in the world.
He has no TARDIS and if he gets to regenerate, his Metacrisis body has not been created for that and he can die. But he can use his regeneration energy to heal himself. But he is limited. (A too huge use of this energy can have side effects: headache, weakness, and if he uses too much, Faint then die.)
Nowadays, he has joined the Haven Network (similar structures as Sanctuaries of Abnormals and Mutants, but more equipped and expererienced). He was an ally to the Havens in Perth and Cape Town alongside Clara, Bill and Amelia (Not ones of the Doctor but too much similars), already playing the part of the outside ally: too dangerous to underestimate, too valuable to leave out of the game.
His anchor at the New Orleans Haven marks a turning point. There, he accepts a fixed role: the true second to Kent Nelson. Kent and him are almost mythological as a pair. Kent embodies magic, fate, the gods, and the weight of cosmic balance. The Twelfth embodies lived time, numbers, logic, science cobbled together out of three bits of wire and an old coffee machine. They clash over methods, over the idea of âdestinyâ and over whether anyone has the right to redraw the map⌠but they agree completely on one thing: nobody touches the people theyâve sworn to protect. New Orleans is a crossroads of the dead, of music, of magic and fractures in reality; for the Twelfth, it has become both a prison and a refuge, a fixed point he has to guard whether he likes it or not.
He is like Kent in the most dangerous way: both of them are far too quick to put themselves on the altar if it means everyone else walks away. Ruby has seen Kent do it, felt the cold certainty in him when he decides that his life is an acceptable price for the balance of the world. She sees the same reflex in the Doctor, the same fatal arithmetic ticking in the back of his mind: one life versus thousands, millions, timelines. She knows that if she doesnât watch them, theyâll both make that choice without hesitating â and she refuses to let either of them erase themselves for her cause.
So she pushes back. She calls him out when heâs about to throw himself into the fire, just as he calls her out when she tries to burn alone. She reminds him he is not just a tool or a shield, that the Havens need him alive, that she needs him alive. Sheâs one of the very few who will look him in the eye and say, âNo. Not this time. We find another way.â In those moments, the Doctor is forced to confront his own habit of self-sacrifice, and the parallel with Kent becomes impossible to ignore.
He acts as doctor, chief scientist, operational strategist and unofficial guardian of temporal anomalies, all while hiding behind a very simple cover: a slightly weird old man who plays guitar in a local bar and has âa practiceâ inside the Haven.
Kent Nelson aka Dr. Fate ft. Pierce Brosnan
A man who has seen billions of futures and millions of destinies.
Kent Nelson is one of the keeper of the Nabu's Helmet. He has originally died during the Kahndaq Crisis.
When he reappeared is in a unaffected mansion in New Orleans, with an "aftershock amnesia" without his helmet and power. Just lost, confused and some feelings about timelines and possibles futures.
Quickly a bound comes into light between him and Ruby (head of all Haven and the one who saved him) something near love and fusional affection. But love transforms in a whole affection and tenderness (or call it platonical love if you want). Ruby would do everything she can to avoid his death again.
She is here when he wakes up after visions and he is here when she is about to explode.
He is the head of the New Orleans's Haven â the âarchmage directorâ who holds the line on everything magical: wards, pacts, artefacts, crises tied to gods, demons, etc. He is also the Incarnation of Doctor Fate â when he takes the Helmet, he becomes the voice and arm of the Lords of Order.
Out of costume, Kent is very much the gentle old wizard, Calm, composed, soft-spoken, with an old-world courtesy. he is also pragmatic and lucid: he knows exactly how bad things can get, so he doesnât dramatise. He is deeply protective of people, but without the need to dominate them; he prefers to guide, advise, and shield from the background. He has also a Dry sense of humour, especially with other âold monstersâ like Prospero.
Even their relationships stay platonical, He carries a heavy history of losses (his first wife, his long war as Fate), which colours how he looks at Ruby: in our chats he explicitly fears losing her as âthe second woman of his lifeâ he truly loves, and his visions torture him with images of her turning to dust in his arms. That fear runs under everything he does around her. But in the same time he leaves her to be with Tesla.
She put him at the head of the New Orleans Haven, because he is an expert in every magic and occultism and because New Orleans is a historical convergence point for magic, voodoo and old beliefs.
Sometimes they can talk to each others in a common dream or a ephemere space that Kent have created for us. She has already come to his tower twice in her lifetime.
He is the only one who can stop Prospero if he loses control on his terrible meteorological powers.
His accesses to ancient documents and knowledges make him someone precious and not replacable for all the Haven Network.
Toward the Library and Magnus, he tries his best to stay neutral.
He is a member of the Haven Council and he is considerated as a founder member of the Havens new era.
Dr. James Watson ft. Peter Wingfield
An another character I want to talk aboutâŚ
His name is not known from a distance, but the character he has inspired is known worldwide: Sherlock Holmes.
Behind the sharpminded detective of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is this man. He is the one who has impressed and was the basis for Sherlock Holmes. But because he does not want to be under the projector, he asked Doyle to have the role of sherlock's partner in cases.
James is someone calm, steady and very very clever and observative. He is the best of all a generation.
He is an upright, calm, thoughtful and composed man. He uses his superior intelligence to help his fellow man, create inventions and conduct so-called impossible investigations. He is not someone who seeks conflict, he is more the one who arbitrates, who tempers. But be careful, calm does not mean passive. A volcano sleeps under these appearances of calm water. If we attack those he loves or show cruelty, he becomes impulsive and sour. He is not a brawler, but he is perfectly capable of hitting where it hurts and surgically.
He is a member of the Five, scientist who have injected the Sanguine Vampiris blood in their veins to make an experimentation. Every member of the Five has something enhanced with this blood, James's was an great improvement of his mind.
But in the contrary of others members, he was still mortal, so he has to deal with it all his life, creating an exoskeleton when his body cant do it by itself.
He has known wars, he has been tortured, wounded. He suffered from both physical and emotional sequelae and his exoskeleton must be upgraded in consequence. He keeps sometimes a kind of postraumatic syndrom from wars, and personal grief (the loss of his wife, the real identity of Jack the Ripper)
He was a founder member of the Sanctuary Network and become the head of London's.
On a mission in Bhalassam in 2009, in the search of an extract of pure Sanguine Vampiris, the Five reunited, but his exoskeleton shut down permanently, causing him an apparent death in minutes.
But the story does not end like this...
Ruby has followed the Five and intervene before his last breath. She gave him some drops of her blood to maintain him alive and bring him in her Haven in an emergency state.
She put him in a biotube that cure him from the dysfonction of his exoskeleton and maintain him alive in extremis. During weeks or months, the biotube regenerate him, get him rid of every parts of his exoskeletons, and make him completely human again.
You should think that he would need reeducation, but the Biotube brings his body and muscles back to normal, and thanks to Ruby's blood, James is not immortal but his aging has been greatly slowed...
When he has long walks or tired, he walked with a stick to help him because some wounds are not completely healed.
I am at your disposal for further information.
Prospero Valente ft. Richard Cox
Today I want to talk about one of the character I am looking for my Roleplay community crossovering The Librarians and Sanctuary...
His name is Prospero Valente...
But he is much known as Prospero, Duke of Milan and character created by William Shakespeare in the play "The Tempest".
He is a fictionnal, as we called it in the Librarians vocabulary, someone who belongs to a book and becomes Bones and Flesh.
Here Prospero was the Nemesis of all the Season Two of Librarians. He wants to change the end of the play and has his revenge on his creator William Shakespeare.
After many showdowns and confrontations, Prospero is finally defeated and forced to return in his book timeline (Act III)
But he returns...
Its not the same Prospero who has returned to life. He is calmer, ridden of his hate, anger and will for power and revenge.
The first time we see him, is in Naples, talking with a man who is dressed smartly. They seem to know each others for a long time.
The Second time is in Dubrovnik, where he used his magical power (weakened by the loss of his rod and his book but still a fearsome mage.) to protect Ruby from vampires hunters.
We learn that they are really in a close relationships without ambiguity. Prospero considers Ruby (my character) as The Miranda (his daughter in the Tempest) of this world, and will let no one to harm her.
He is a post Act V version of the Prospero of his own play. He is a wise adviser and second in command of the Naples Haven, but he is regularly seen in the Main Haven in Dubrovnik. As an undercover, he is a recognized historian and "old sciences stuffs" expert.
Sometimes he miscalls Ruby with the Miranda Name. He acts as a father a little too protective.
She and Kent Nelson are the only ones able to stop him if he loses control.
His temper has changed too: Now that the rage and thirst for revenge are gone, Prosperoâs temper is mostly quiet, steady, and contemplative. He has the air of an old sea, not a storm: deep, watchful, with long silences and a dry, almost mischievous sense of humour. He is patient with ignorance but merciless with hypocrisy, preferring to correct rather than to punish. He rarely truly loses his temper anymoreâhe has learned to breathe, to step back, to choose his battles. The one thing that can still crack that calm is a threat to those he has claimed as his own, especially Ruby-as-Miranda: then the old tempest surfaces in a flash, not wild and vengeful, but cold, surgical, and terrifyingly controlled.
The loss of his staff and book caused him to have some side effects in the use of his powers. These side effects can endanger him in a way, if he used too much his magic.
IMMEDIATE SIDE EFFECTS
Nosebleeds & tremors: when he pushes too hard or too fast, you can have blood at the nose, shaking hands, difficulty holding objects afterward.
Headaches / migraines: the more reality-bending the spell, the worse it is. Weather control or large-area wards can leave him half blind for hours. or days.
Chest tightness / breathlessness: because heâs forcing power through his body, his breathing goes ragged, heart pounding like heâs run a marathon.
Brief dissociation: for a few seconds he can feel like heâs half in the world, half âon stageâ again, which is disorienting if heâs in combat.
Irritability / sharp temper spike: right after heavy casting, his patience is almost zero. Thatâs when the âlegendary colèresâ are the most dangerous.
MEDIUM TERMS EFFECTS
If he chains spells over days without real rest:
Cognitive fatigue: slower thinking, forgetting words, losing his train of thought mid-sentence. For someone like him, thatâs humiliating and terrifying.
Sleep disturbances: vivid dreams of storms, shipwrecks, drowned books, or Ruby/Miranda in danger. He can go almost insomniac if he keeps casting hard.
Instability of weather / environment around him:
Sudden gusts of wind in closed rooms.
Temperature drops when heâs upset.
Lights flickering, objects rattling with no obvious cause. â The magic leaks out of him because thereâs no focus item to hold it.
Emotional volatility: heâs normally more composed now, but heavy magic use makes him:
quicker to anger,
more possessive / protective of Ruby,
more prone to snap at anyone touching his wards or artifacts.
LONG TERM EFFECTS
Without rod or book to absorb part of the backlash, all the cost goes directly into him:
Accelerated aging (magical, not just physical):
After extreme rituals, he can look suddenly older for a while (more wrinkles, deeper lines).
If he overdoes it too often, that âtemporaryâ aging may start to stick.
Partial loss of control:
If he casts while deeply enraged (especially if someone harms Ruby, âhisâ Miranda), the spell can overshoot.
Instead of a precise wind, he gets a full tempest. Instead of a clean ward, he creates a barrier that also hurts allies.
In that state, only Ruby (emotional anchor) or Kent (raw mystical authority + Nabu) can realistically stop or contain him.
Identity bleed:
Long, intense use can blur the line between Prospero Valente the man, and Prospero of the play.
He can slip into archaic speech, theatrical posture, and a more ruthless logic where the ends always justify the means.
He hates this, and itâs one of the reasons he restrains himself most of the time.
After losing his control, and obliged Ruby to quite kill him, she has found a way to bring his rod and book back... But he still have the side effects

How to improve your roleplay answer
1. What a roleplay reply is for
In fanfiction, you control everything: all characters, pacing, scenes. In roleplay, your reply has one main job:
Take what your partner just wrote, react to it, move the scene forward, and give something new to play with.
So each reply should do at least these things:
React to what just happened.
Show what your character feels and thinks.
Show what your character does and says.
Offer one or two hooks so your partner knows how to answer.
If you do these four steps every time, your replies will never be âtoo shortâ.
2. Turn your fanfic habits into RP power
You already know how to:
Describe scenes
Show emotions
Write dialogues
Build tension
Use the same tools, but in a smaller dose, focused on one character. Before you answer, ask yourself:
What did my partner just give me?
What does my character feel about that?
What do they do right now?
What can I put in my reply so my partner has something fun to answer to?
You do not need big paragraphs of lore every time. You just need clear reactions and little details.
3. A tiny âpromptâ you can use for every reply
You can think of your reply like a mini prompt for yourself, made of 5 questions:
Where are you? One short reminder of the place or atmosphere.
What just hit you? The last action, word, or emotion from your partnerâs post.
What happens inside you? Thoughts, feelings, memories, physical reactions.
What do you do and say now? Actions, gestures, dialogue.
What do you leave open? A look, a question, a movement, a danger, a decision⌠something for your partner to grab.
Even if you write one or two sentences for each step, you already have a solid RP reply.
4. Make your replies longer without âpaddingâ
When replies are very short, it is usually because they only contain dialogue or one action.
Example of a very short reply:
âFine. Do what you want,â you answer.
To grow this without making it boring, you can add:
A small physical reaction (shrug, step back, hands shaking, folding arms, looking away)
One feeling or thought (anger, fear, relief, jealousy, confusion, determination)
A tiny piece of environment (rain hitting the window, noise in the corridor, smell of smoke, light in the room)
Same reply, expanded:
You look away, jaw tight, fingers digging into your sleeves. âFine. Do what you want.â The words come out colder than you expected, but you do not correct them. Outside, rain starts tapping against the window, a perfect excuse not to meet their eyes.
It is still simple, but now your partner:
Knows how you feel
Sees what you do
Feels the mood of the scene
Has several things to answer to (the cold tone, the way you avoid eye contact, the rain, etc.)
5. Show, donât only answer
Try to avoid replies that only answer the question or only agree/disagree.
Instead of:
âYes.â âNo.â âI donât know.â
Turn it into a small moment:
âYesâ with context: You hesitate, then nod once. âYes. If you stay with me.â
âNoâ with reasons: âNo.â The answer is immediate, almost too sharp. âI am not leaving this place again.â
âI donât knowâ with emotion: âI⌠donât know.â Your voice cracks a little. You hate that you do not have a plan this time.
You still answer, but you also give emotion and hooks.
6. Think in beats, not in lines
A good roleplay reply is not about word count, it is about beats:
A âbeatâ = one small unit of story:
a reaction
a thought
a short action
a sentence of dialogue
Aim for 3 to 6 beats per reply, for example:
Reaction to what your partner did/said
Inner feeling or thought
Action (move, gesture, step closer/away)
Dialogue
Another small reaction (silence, sigh, eye contact, looking at something else)
You can mix them in any order. If you hit 3â6 beats, your reply will naturally be longer and richer.
7. Keep it clear and easy to answer
Try to:
Stay in one point of view: your character only.
Keep verbs clear: who does what is always obvious.
Avoid writing the reactions of your partnerâs character. Only describe your own character and shared environment.
End on something that feels like an invitation:
a question
a gesture (offering a hand, turning away, opening a door)
a new problem (phone ringing, someone arriving, a distant noise)
When your last line is a hook, your partner never has to ask âWhat do I do with this?â
8. A simple example: from short to solid
Base reply (very short):
You sit down. âIâm tired.â
Improved version:
You let yourself fall into the armchair, heavier than you mean to. The cushions sigh under your weight. For a moment you just stare at your hands, pretending not to notice the worry in their eyes. âIâm tired,â you finally admit, rubbing your forehead. âTired of running, tired of lying, tired of pretending this is fine.â You look up at them then, searching their face. âAnd you?â
This improved version:
Reacts to the situation
Shows physical and emotional state
Adds detail without changing the scene
Ends with a direct question to keep the scene alive
9. Quick checklist for each reply
Before sending a reply, you can quickly ask:
Did you react to what your partner wrote?
Did you show at least one feeling or thought?
Did your character do something, not only speak?
Did you give one hook for the next reply (question, gesture, new detail)?
If the answer is âyesâ to these four points, your reply is already a good roleplay post, even if it is not very long yet. With practice, the length and richness will grow naturally.

Nikola and Ruby: A long Lasting Story
At the origins â trust above all
At Oxford, Ruby first observes Nikola as a force of nature is assessed: brilliant, hungry for evidence, reared against any form of dependence. She understands very quickly that, if he has to remain standing, it will be neither by Helenâs medication nor by magic. She proposes something else: an alliance based on routine, measure and given word. She speaks to him like an engineer: metronomes, sequences of three (three steps, three series, three pages), gloves when the smell of blood saturates, "cages" for electricity discharge. He accepts because she does not correct himâshe the caliber. There is born their common language.
Rubyâs love â whole, patient, exact
Ruby loves him with a total and unconditional love, but never at the cost of her dignity. She does not imprison him; she gives him back control. She keeps quiet when he runs after Helenâs shadow; she stays when he falls back. His love is not a plea, it is a presence: a cup placed in the right place, a shirt ironed when nights were bad, a 'breath' whispered at the precise moment when hunger becomes white noise. She does not ask for anything in return; she hopes, without begging.
1943 â the tinted window and tears
After Wardenclyffe, she finds him turned off in a hotel room. She puts her watch back on time, her mind at work. During the 'funeral', she really cries. Nikola looks from afar, behind the black windows of a vehicle. It is said that from this day he will no longer bear to see her cry: it is not weakness that he reads in his tears, it is proof that she does not use itâshe regrets it and still chooses him. When he reappears after the ceremony, she doesnât let go of him until takeoff for Europe: her hand tightens the sleeve of his coat, a simple, irrevocable gesture.
1944 â Dubrovnik, a home rather than a mausoleum
He helps him to modernize the Haven of Dubrovnik. Their nights smell of tin, cold dust, ozone. He calibrates Faradayâs cages; she traces evacuation circuits. Sometimes he lets his palm rest on the back of her hand when she marks a spot with charcoal: almost briefly, but consenting. He allows him to approach his desk and his notebooks (which he usually fiercely defends). She adjusts her tie before a meeting; he raises a collar for her, almost distracted, but her blue eyes remain one second too long on her mouth. It is these micro-gestures that nourish the tension: no one talks about it, everyone sees it.
Their tacit pactâmaster without canceling oneself
They set rules for each other:
When hunger rises, Ruby leads the sequence (breathing, tactile anchoring, electrical discharge).
She never draws magic first; he never demands medication for comfort.
They tell each other the truth about their absences: he can leave for Helen, but he warns; she can contradict him on a mission, but never in front of a third party.
This pact has a gentle consequence: their physical proximity becomes therapy as much as promise. She places her fingers on his wrist at the exact moment when he hesitates; he leans against the same wall as her to find the rhythm. Their silence is functional, but it shivers with something else.
Love tension â signs that do not deceive
The gaze that returns: he looks for her in the room when he finishes a demonstration, as if to validate not the result, but his state.
The shared territory: he lets her enter the workshop in the middle of an extremely rare privilege idea.
Sewing gestures: she reattaches a button, aligns a hem; it does not move, eyes lowered, docile without saying so.
The forbidden felted: when his eyes turn black, he turns his head a fraction of a second too late.
The refusal of tears: whoever makes her cry discovers an implacable Tesla, not out of noisy jealousy but out of offended loyalty.
They love each other⌠differently
Ruby likes now, with tiny pieces of evidence accumulated like bricks. Tesla, he is weighted with old debts and a romanticism full of spectrums. He never promised to love Ruby; he never knew not to choose her, yet, when everything vacillates. He rarely presents her, but he makes her enter everywhere: between his nerves and his ideas, where no one has the right to be present.
Their way of arguing⌠and coming back
They clash over exposure (he wants to shine; she wants to survive) and over the use of risk (he takes it upon himself; she spreads it). When it breaks, Ruby leaves the room without slamming the door; Nikola sends her, an hour later, a sketch, an equation, or places a cup of tea in her own way: the handle turned so that she only has to slide her hand. Itâs her 'forgiveness'. Hers is to put the metronome back on track without comment.
Present â promise kept, future open
Even today, she remains. She loves him sincerely and totally, without reducing her life to this love. She leads, protects, decidesâand at the end of the day, she checks that her hands do not tremble. Him, continue to be Nikola: genius, tamed chaos, ancient loyalties. Does he share his feelings? Ruby knows nothing about it. But there are these gestures: his chair drawn at the right distance from her work bench, half of a free bench for her, the light he turns down when her pupils expand, the way he places his hand on her neck to bring it back to the shade in the brightly lit hallway. Nothing is said. Everything is possible. And this is exactly the space where their love breathes.

The Forgotten Haven - Season 5 Sanctuary
The Plot
Five years after the destruction of the Old City Sanctuary, Helen Magnus continues to lead the Sanctuary network from New Praxis in the Hollow Earth with her original team. But the situation is precarious: some Sanctuaries have chosen to power down or keep a low profile, while others have turned traitor and now work for a human group determined to eliminate the Abnormal threat: the SCIU.
The SCIU (Specified Counter-Insurgency Unit) is the U.S. Department of Homeland Securityâs new Abnormal-hunting division, created after the attempted invasion of the Hollow Earth and the severing of all government ties with the Sanctuary network. Abby Corrigan and Greg Addison are members.
The Council of the Havensâolder than the Sanctuaries themselvesâdecides to step out of the shadows. They believe Magnusâs network has failed. They reclaim the role they should never have left in the hands of mere humans: protecting Abnormals and integrating them within their own ranks, until such time as humanity is ready to live in harmony with them. Some already live among humans, without making waves and without arousing suspicion.
Meanwhile, the SCIU, which seemed to have quieted down after the Old City Sanctuary explosion, resumes operations. This time they are far less passive: they want to seize powerful Abnormals to build an army and dismantle the Sanctuary network. They do not hesitate to control, manipulate, and torture to achieve their ends. They consider the Sanctuaries to be a dangerâticking time bombsâand claim it is safer to place Abnormal oversight and classification in the hands of government agencies.
On the other side, the Cabal takes advantage of the prevailing disorder to regain power and influence. Originally founded around the year 700, the Cabal is an ancient cult dating back to medieval Scotland. Mythic hints suggest the Cabalis Nocturnum first formed as a secret order of knights who had fallen from King Arthurâs grace and aided Merlin in his battle against Morgan le Fay to earn redemption. They eventually took control of the MorrĂganâthree powerful female Abnormals who originally served Morgan. From the beginning, the Cabal collected beings of great power and weaponized them to grow stronger. Supposedly destroyed in the 19th century, the Cabal still exists but remains highly discreet, operating from the shadows, controlling banks and biotech firms that capitalize on Abnormalsâ extraordinary mutations. Leaders of several Fortune 500 companies are known to collude with the Cabal. It possesses extensive armaments and continues its collection of phenomena by studying them.
The Sanctuary network is weakened by new crises between humans and Abnormals, making the situation even more explosiveâyet also more advantageous to a rising SCIU that casts itself as a savior, and to the Cabal, which needs only to swoop in and harvest new specimens for its darker designs.
What would happen if the Cabal decided to team up with the SCIU to serve its own interests
