Watching Sanctuary and whenever Helen Magnus and Henry Foss are coming up with plans or (in this instance) off to blow stuff up I just get that meme running through my head of 'Let's do [crimes] with mama!'
Crimes. Blow stuff up. Break into something. Run a heist. Come up with something genius.
Helen raised that boy, and sometimes you can tell.

headcanon that since mother’s day is on different days in the u.k. and the u.s., that every year ashley and henry celebrated it twice, so twice a year they make helen a card and leave a vase of her favorite flowers on her desk (open to suggestions as to what her favorite flower might be lol)
the first mother’s day after ashley died (the british one, i think, since that one comes first in the year), henry isn’t sure if/how he should continue the tradition, bc even though helen literally raised him he still feels like it’d be too presumptuous to call her his mom, and ashley was always the one who wrote ‘happy mother’s day’ on the cards.
he decides to go through with it himself anyway, bc even though ashley’s gone now helen is still her mother and that’s never gonna change, and she deserves to have that acknowledged. so he gets up early and sneaks into her office, hoping to leave the flowers and card anonymously, but helen is also awake early (bc it’s mother’s day and ofc she can’t sleep) and she sees him putting them on her desk.
henry is afraid she’ll be mad or upset, but she just pulls him in for a hug and holds him for a long time without saying anything. two months later for american mother’s day, they do the same thing again, and every year after that. it’s both a mourning ritual for ashley and an acknowledgement that for all intents and purposes helen is henry’s mother, and he’s her son.
I love how in the fandom it is widely accepted that Helen is Henry's mom. Like that's his mama right there. That's the woman who raised him.
Like in the show, she cares a lot about Henry but even though he's supposedly lived with her most of his life she doesn't love on him as much as she does Ashely.
But even so, I love when fics (including my own) where she very much considers him her kid.
I hadn't thought about this before but what's even more devastating about this scene, in addition to Nikola's face, is the fact that Henry is looking at him and gauging his reaction 😭 More than anyone else he understands on some level just how deep Helen and Nikola's bond is and it's like he's both fearing how intense Nikola's grief is going to be and looking out for him in case he has some unprecedented emotional breakdown right in front of him. Also Henry is the one who says "You've just lost the best friend you've ever had" in "Resistance" and it ends up being unintentionally prophetic?????? Okay honestly what was WRONG with the writers on this show, the more you sit with this finale the worse it gets 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
