Potions wasn’t Cal’s strongest suit, but it also wasn’t his downfall. Thankfully, his extensive knowledge of plants seemed to be his saving grace when it came to the class, as ingredients posed less of a challenge for him because of such a thing. His steady hand and nature were also helpful for the practice. “Miss Mallory,” he said with a little respectful incline of his head towards her, almost as if he were tipping a non-existent hat. “Looks like we’ll be working together for this class. Have you mixed this one before?” he asked, squinting a little at the book. His reading was improving, thankfully.
He seemed cheerful enough. She wasn’t sure how anyone was cheerful in such a world, but especially in potion’s class. She was pretty sure he wasn’t even that good at it, though he was better than the student who accidentally exploded their hiccup solution. “No,” She lied, a smile still fixed naturally to her face. “Unfortunately potions isn’t my strong suit.” That was true, but she was miles beyond everyone in every subject as far as she was concerned. “But I’m sure we’ll make it through.”
