If you open a steam announcement post as a discussion thread, you can see who posted it via the block menu
By blocking the user, then going to your own list of blocked users, you can get to the steam profile that the post came from. This is nothing new, people have known about Toby's fwugradiation steam account for ages.
However, only two of Deltarune's announcement posts are from that account. Those are the one in the screenshot, and the subsequent one posted the day of Chapter 5's release.
All the rest are from an account simply named "g."
This could be a reference to W.D. Gaster.
Navigating to the "g." account in the manner previously described, its url is https://steamcommunity.com/id/chelseascool46
Presumably, the account is owned by Deltarune team member Chelsea "PixelatedCrown" Saunders, since she's the only dev named Chelsea.
Interestingly, opening the Name History for the "g." account reveals it was only given that name very recently. June 16th of this year (it would display a year if it were a different year, it showing just month and day means it was this year).
So, is there a way to know what it was before? The aliases menu would lead us to believe that it was always the same.
If it had ever been something different, it would have had to have been archived on the wayback machine, which is extraordinarily unlikely oh hey look it is.
The url is archived exactly once, taken October of 2025. And, when viewing the archive page, the name of the profile is in fact different.
It still says "g.", but there's a date displayed as well. 5-26-23, which was May 26th, 2023.
What happened on May 26th, 2023?
okay as hesitant as i am to point to toby fox intentionally hiding arg shit like this i will say the fact that the account specifically has a date in its older username is.. suspicious to say the least..
Nothing of note that would be related to Undertale or Deltarune seemed to have happened on that day, but it's certainly strange
