i feel like one of the biggest petty things that makes me sad about hiveswap is that the alternia side of the games (so like. 70 percent of the content) doesnt really capitalize on it technically being a period piece. on earth there are plenty of cutesy references to 90s media with joeys interests. and then you get to alternia and its. late 2010s early 2020s culturally. zero distinction between our world and theirs. the archetypes the lingo the social media the fashion. its so odd having the prequel games feel more modern than the source material. like did chittr fucking explode and thats why the hivebent trolls are using a private chat client instead of dms to talk to each other before the game
