My Preferred Order of Play in Dragon Age Inquisition (for best story order):
Been meaning to post this for awhile, finally got around to it! Might add more later.
- The Wrath of Heaven
- The Hinterlands (help the Crossroads people & pick up agents)
- Val Royeaux
- pick up Sera, Vivienne, Blackwall, Iron Bull
- 100% Storm Coast (don’t try and get southernmost red lyrium for Varric yet)
- back to Hinterlands, finish Apostates in Witchwood & Templars to the West, Horsemaster if you’re really feeling ambitious now
- if you’re REALLY ambitious, 100% the Fallow Mire, or wait til later
- visit Redcliffe and see what is up, hi Dorian
- speak to everyone in Haven to say hi to new people
- choose In Hushed Whispers (mages) or Champions of the Just (templars)
- speak to companions in Haven to hear their thoughts
- play through In Your Heart Shall Burn
- DO NOT TRAVEL ANYWHERE YET
- check war table/talk to Josephine
- talk to companions again
- go find Varric, save RIGHT before you talk to him, for reasons.
- now you can travel again haha
- 100% Fallow Mire if you haven’t yet
- 100% Crestwood, find the warden
- talk to companions again
- time to start gaining traction for the Orlesians - 100% the Exalted Plains
- follow the Freemen arc to the Emerald Graves, 100% that
- oop, still more Orlesian Dales drama, 100% Emprise du Lion except dragons
- You’ve solved a lot of problems for Orlais! Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts time!
- pop into skyhold garden for a fun cameo conversation probably
- seems like it’s time to go and find out what the wardens are up to
- 100% the Western Approach
- 100% the Hissing Wastes
- Here Lies the Abyssssss
- wrap as much up as possible, esp Before the Dawn or Under Her Skin (depending on mage/templar choice)
- What Pride Had Wrought
- wrap up anything else (shouldn’t be too much, war table stuff & personal quests probably)
- The Final Piece
- talk to companions and exhaust all options
- Doom Upon All the World
- talk to companions for little remarks (esp Cole)
- look at rotunda painting
- play DLCs (I prefer The Descent and then Jaws of Hakkon)
- Trespasser
- idk, cry I guess
