everyone tells me that ADHD isn't an excuse for being lazy and that there are people with ADHD who have overcome their symptoms and are successful but every day I drag around an invisible dopplegänger of myself who is horrible and listless and always complains. and he is so heavy. I'm ambitious and I'm passionate but he isn't and the problem is that to get anywhere in life I have to grab him by the leg and pull him along the whole way, kicking and screaming, and sometimes it gets exhausting. sometimes he pulls me down with him. and it gets a bit difficult to explain to people why I'm lying down on the floor in pain when they can't see him.

I've never heard ADHD explained this way....but it's such a good depiction of it.

so many people just like don't understand that there are varying severities of adhd. some people can still live life with relative ease, especially medicated. and there are some people who literally have to drag themselves through life like this because of it. medication doesn't help every person with adhd to the same degree. and there are comorbidities that can affect and interact with adhd and make it harder to cope with. but many see the people with mild adhd who can manage it really well and they think the rest of us aren't trying hard enough. and it's really fucking frustrating.

people should be allowed to have low ambition, and also be able to feed a family on the salary of a cashier at a convenience store.

You gotta be really publicly passionate about things if you want your friends to text you. Bc people will forget to text you because they’re human. But if you’re really openly the friend who loves identifying ants your friends will think of you when they see ants. And they’ll text you “what ant is this [blurry photo]”. And then they’ll ask you how you’ve been and we should get coffee sometime. But if they don’t know what you love they’ll never know what you like

And then when the ant convention is in town they’ll be like dude… we should go to the ant convention. But they would never think to go if they didn’t know u loved ants

And sometimes you need to ask them to go to the ant convention. But you Will not get anywhere hiding your passions
