Character B is loud, boisterous and bordering on obnoxious. Character A, far quieter and reserved, would loathe them, if they weren't mildly entertained by how hard B always tries to impress them. Their most recent bid for approval involves presenting A with a bouquet of flowers, to celebrate their recent success in something or other. Only, much to A's amusement, it appears to be setting off B's allergies. A allows the conversation to drag idly out, watching B's little nose rubs get more and more frequent It's mindless at first (the back of the hand, a swipe of the wrist) and then deliberate (some precise knuckling, a fingertip squished against their septum). But B is so happy that A is giving them attention that they can't possibly excuse themselves. And so they stick around, nostrils reddening, until at last...
"S-sorry, I have to- hih! Hih'ishu! Ih'chu! Tisch!"
"Oh," A remarks in surprise. "Is... Is that how you sneeze?"
"What?" B wrinkles their nose, half in confusion and half to quell the tickle.
"It's just--I expected it to be louder." A shrugs, taken aback by how small and cute they were. "I thought it might be little more dramatic."
"Oh!" B nods enthusiastically. "Okay, how about this?" The step forward, bury their face in the flowers, and inhale. Suddenly, they stumble back, reeling. "Ah! Hhah! Hihhih..." They tip their head back, fanning a hand in front of their face, hitching desperately.
A frowns. "I didn't mean--"
"Huh! Huh'YISH-iew!" B pitches forward, bent at the waist with the force of the sneeze. "Ah'TISCH'yu! Ah-- Hah-- Ha'CHU!" They sniffle a few times, for emphasis, before they raise their head. "Was that more like it?" they ask, scrubbing their nose on their sleeve.
A's eyes are very wide. Their cheeks are growing hot. "I, um... yes. I suppose so."
B beams. "Want me to do it again? I think if I took a deeper breath--"
"No! No, that was fine." A clears their throat. "I-I really should be going now." They stare down at the bouquet in their hand, suddenly unable to make eye contact. "Got to find a vase for these, or something. I'll see you later." They hurry away without a second glance.
B watches in dismay as A goes. They thought things were going so well! "I could try to sneeze a different way!" they call after them, cupping a hand to their mouth. "If that would be better!"
A pretends not to hear them, disappearing around the corner. The offer is... very tempting. Perhaps, after A has composed themselves, they'll take them up on it.
