I love medieval travelogues where the author casually mentions seeing "big frogs" or something in the Nile river, followed by an irritated comment about how the locals bodily prevented the author from seeing these big frogs up close.
The big frogs, doing their best to be innocent and frog-like, they would never hurt anyone, certainly not: đ´đđđđ

The idea that the Plague of Frogs was actually one of crocodiles is something that exists in Jewish thought abd exegesis! Not that common and well known, but it exists. That's what Obadiah di Bartinoro means when he mentions Nahmanides.
On the one hand, they supposedly made a comment on a Hebrew word of meaning that was unknown to them. Meaning, one might think that they just believe the Hebrew word "Tzfardeaâ" means crocodile. However, it's just as likely that they considered crocodiles bog frogs. However, the only reason I find that idea compelling is that a plague of frogs sounds ridiculous, while one of crocodiles sounds legitimately scary. Meaning, they might not mean "it's a frog, so basically harmless", but "it's the kind of frog that's actually dangerous, the one that troubled the Egyptians in the Plague of Frogs".

recently discovered the jacana and pukeko and I am in love with this genre of birds with ridiculously large feet (especially the babies lol.) do you know of any other birds that are like this?

Common or Eurasian Coot (Fulica atra), family Rallidae, order Gruiformes, found across much of Eurasia, northern Africa, and Oceania, Australia and New Zealand
The remarkable feet of coots are fissipalmate (lobed/partially webbed), which help them swim and walk across soft mud (without sinking).
Coots are not ducks, but are more closely related to rails and gallinules/swamphens (and more distantly, cranes).

it's so easy to peer pressure men to become women. nobody is telling them that they shouldn't be women or be like women in any way, so pretty much as soon as i suggest it it's a piece of cake
the second i say "you should be a woman" they are never insulted they are always exactly curious enough to be led by the nose but without showing so much curiosity that they seem interested, which would suggest they have any agency. they don't. nobody has ever told them that men shouldn't be women or that they are men & their value lies in that. i stand unopposed
