Looking up at the stars, I know quite well

That, for all they care, I can go to hell,

But on earth indifference is the least

I’m writing a piece on the now-extinct NH native Smooth-slender Crabgrass. I’ve already had an interviewee back out, and my deadline is 7/23/26 (yeah I know). Since this plant has been extinct for close to a century, I’m not particularly looking for someone with close experience with this specific species, but am looking for botany/ecology informed interviewees who are some combination of:

Informed on this species

Informed on endangered plants/plant extinctions generally

Is familiar with Rock Rimmon Park (Manchester NH USA) & its diverse ecosystem

Might have a personal connection to NH / northeastern USA

Writing, then, was a substitute for myself: if you don't love me, love my writing & love me for my writing. It is also much more: a way of ordering and reordering the chaos of experience.

But here in the moment (where else could we ever be) uncertainty seems to me more like a friend
