You didnt speak any English, well, just a little bit "hello" "my name is" the real simple stuff but not much else. You'd managed to bullshit knowing enough that youd gotten a job at the DX, just pumping gas. Soda or Steve or whoever was on shift would point and you'd grab the nozzle and do your thing

You and Soda half communicated, like not particularly with words but it was friendly enough there was still some sort of connection between the two of you.

No matter how much Steve insisted Soda should "make a move" or kiss you and see your reaction through your facial expression he just stuck to the slight communication and connection without making moves or shit like that, he didnt want to ruin any of it anyway.

He'd learnt the simple hellos for you and when he finally got his language skills up he could talk to you, ask you in a way you understand much better to go out with him or something similar to that. Which he knew you'd be more grateful for over anything else

Which is why Sodapop so easily caught your look the second these loud customers came in, loud customers meant loud talking and commands you barely understood while you attempted to figure out what the hell they were on about

There was a decent minutes of ''Okay this and this and this and this" before your blank face finally made one of them kinda yell and Soda intercepted it real quickly "Hey listen, she don't know what you're sayin'" He said over to the group that all looked at him dumbfounded

"So why was she hired" Said in this way that sounded more like "wh-ai was she higher-ed" in a way thanks to the accent with this good stink face and Soda just raised his eyebrows "she works the pumps real well" He says real simply

One just says a "Ignore 'em Marg, they don't know a thing" and the other gives a sympathetic nod to her before she orders around Soda who while cranky about the situation, does it all for her with a decent amount of swiftness too

You'd been dating Darry since high school at this point, hell who knows it's been a long damn time that's all you both can tell. It meant you'd become a fixture in the whole gangs lives especially with Ponyboy and Sodapop, but there was a feeling you hadn't even noticed coming off of Ponyboy in particular

You'd asked Darry come to find, Sodapop had managed to get out of Ponyboy that he had a decently big crush on you. Ever since you first came to the house and treated him like a person rather than a little kid who didnt understand anything, he'd had this school boy crush on you

You were simply making food today, a big dinner considering you guys felt like it was appropriate. Plus having to make big dinner most of the time considering all the greasers could eat enough to feed about a family of like horses

"Ponyboy just said ya look beautiful even when ya cook and do house chores!!!" Sodapop yelled going off like a human siren while Ponyboys face dropped and you called out "Did he? Or are you lying to embarrass him" and Darrel laughs at that knowing you were trying to preserve Pony's pride

"Come on, I aint a liar!" Sodapop whines and you just give an amused scoff while you continue cooking for the group, Pony just cries out a "I didnt say any'a thaaaaat!" It was like the two turned into a pair of teeny kids whenever one of them denied something the other heard or there was any spat between them

That's why they always made up so damn quick because their arguments were so immature in the first place "trust me I didnt say anythin' like that!" Pony calls out and you finally come out of the kitchen, eyebrows raised "Pony I believe you" you commented very much amused

Darrel Curtis: You're basically his baby sister at this point- not that much younger than him but still!! He definitely knew from the start you didn't like guys so when you come out to him in tears he's smiling "C'mon ya know I knew this right?" He asks and you were confused as ever but Darry had always accepted you and let you confide in him about anything

Dallas Winston: "Just don't get with Sylvia when we break up, that dumb broad would date anyone as long as they were breathing" Busy being salty but it does mean he now sneaks in a "Do ya swing both ways then huh?" if a chick doesn't like him so he can recruit for you, even if he does seem mean and like he wouldn't support you. So really, none of it ends up being horrible

Johnny Cade: Shocked but then again, he gets beaten. The least of his worries are which gender you like, he isn't quite recruiting random chicks like Dallas but he does like to be nosey and ask you questions about your type or if you were like a lesbian psychic and knew if you saw another lesbian. You answered yes you were to pull his leg

Ponyboy Curtis: You like whaaaaaaat..? He's slightly shocked but at the same time because I like the idea of either gay or bi Ponyboy you two sort of have each other to openly talk to, speaking of, Ponyboy and you who dated for like a week because you both didn't know each others sexualities- or just because you wanna hide it from others- It's Ian and Mandy if Mandy was lesbian!!!!! (shameless reference guys)

Sodapop Curtis: Well, he is the most liked guy in town. So I honestly see it as in "everyone likes Soda.. I guess I do too" for a lesbian you in denial considering you're also good friends with him, after a date or two you break down and cry into his chest telling him you don't think you like boys that way and really? He doesn't mind at all, he's always there if you need to lean on him

Steve Randle: Either he doesn't actually catch what you mean when you're coming out and thinks you're joking so just flirts as normal OR he ends up treating you like one of his guy friends- he's inhaled so much gas and shit from working on cars his brain is far gone (jokes)

Darrel Curtis: I think yeah he's pretty normal #averagedad but I think if you're dancing in front of him or doing a tiktok trend he's looking at you sideways, he's strict about internet usage and open about the fact you'll be embarrassed by the shit you want to post in about a year

Dallas Winston: "no kid of mine.." I mean he would rather you tell him you wanna ride a unicycle for your job for the rest of your professional life, he's so quick to snatch your phone off of you (you go viral for posting the video of him coming in and swooping up your phone when you're mid dance so it isn't all that bad)

Johnny Cade: I mean his parents never let him have any self expression, he wants you to grow up open and happy and out about whoever you choose to be so he bares through the second hand embarrassment he's feeling around you when you do a tiktok or something like that

Ponyboy Curtis: Well.. okay, he wouldn't personally do allat but he does make the comment of "You're so lucky your uncle Soda wasn't born in your generation, his digital footprint would be disgusting" Which deeply amuses you

Sodapop Curtis: You're gonna dance??? On tiktok??? And you aren't gonna teach him the dances so he can be involved and you guys can do a little duo dance???? Man he thought you loved him! Yeah no he just wants to be involved, he finds things like this very fun. Mentally prepare for the your dad is beekeepers age in the comments sorry
