I've left this in my inbox for like three days sksks I wanted to collect the best of the best.

So full disclosure, I don't really read one-shots for Treebros. So these are all like pretty long.

To start, there's the two Big Fics in the fandom, these are great places to start. There's The Desperate Type by chchchchcherrybomb which is a beautiful au that I've read about 500 times. Then there's Come and Go by CharacterShoes which is a fix-it fic and I'm pretty sure majority of the fandom considers to be canon.

Some other great ones in no particular order:

Don't Let Go by masterroadtripper

This is a post-hs/college au and I love the way Connor and Evan's friendship and relationship blossoms in this one. Plus Connor has a dog and I love dogs

The Pact by Wendlaa

I will die on this fic's hill. Not just because I consider Sally a Good Pal but also it's just so sweet. HS Suicide Pact au and the way she writes Connor just makes me warm. Also her and Lee's narrative style flows so well.

Finding Themselves by Isscha

I love run-away road trip fics. Read this and listen to Ben Platt's Sing to Me Instead while doing so. It's an EXPERIENCE.

The only one shot that I can think of to recommend:

Your Smile and Your Sleight of Hand by vinegarandglitter

Post HS Con-Artist Connor au. Very fun read. Lengthy and a really interesting take on the characters

And literally ANYTHING by hopefulminty. I have read their fics probably a million times over the 5 years I have been in this fandom, but my two all-time favorites are:

HS pen pal au. Slow burn friends to lovers. This was literally the first Treebros fic I ever read and my catalyst into the ship. It's so beautifully written, all of the characters are developed so well, and it's just a great read. I've adapted a lot of Minty's OCs into my own DEH headcanons, especially Aunt Jamie and Geoff. I recommend this to literally everyone.

When Evan met Connor

College roommates (?) au. I cannot stress how much I love Minty's OCs and I think Evan is just so funny in this fic. Also really love how she develops Connor and Evan’s friendship and the commentary on the experiences of being queer in college. Also, I mean, Connor as Meg Ryan? Come ON
