vivienne tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. hoping that keeping her hands busy with something other than twiddling her thumbs would distract from the fact that they couldn't use their phones during press. taymour's words barely cutting her. there was a small intimacy about living in a shared secret, where love doesn't live, but is supposed to. only a twinge of... what is that... pain, hurt, relief, solace (?) when he mentions them being over. not just the idea or appeal to the public, but them as a unit; and for some reason, it was a small reminder of tomas and a marriage she had already lost before. remember, this isn't real. a sigh escaped her lips, with a reluctant smile following directly after, "promise?" her response towards his 'separate ways' comment, letting out a faux sweetness in inflection. "god, i don't even know why our publicists came up with this idea."

not too long after they'd made it back to his dressing room, the gifted champagne had been popped open. a few glasses in, his tie sat half-undone, and somewhere along the way another button of his shirt had come undone, too... though that was less intentional than it was inevitable. the truth was that, for the first time this evening, he looked like he'd stopped bracing for impact and was just being, breathing. the room was much quieter than the hallway full of people who wanted pieces of them, faceless voices shouting behind cameras. here, it was just them, the faint fizz of bubbles, and the lingering aftertaste of a performance that had gone well. perhaps too well.

Most every Saturday morning, Lupe enjoyed taking a trip to the farmers market to replenish her stock of organic vegetables and eggs. She didn’t mind going to the local supermarkets from time to time, but preferred to use her money to help out the small independent workers who kept the market running each and every week. Wanting to keep the regular encounters between herself and Vivienne, she invited the elder to tag along for a change. Movies and girl chats were always looked forward to, but Lupe liked variation from time to time. 

taymour didn't miss the way her face held onto its disapproval nor the hesitation in her voice; and how could he blame her? still, he only offered a small, polite smile, stepping back to lead her into the apartment at an easy pace, careful not to make it feel like he was ushering her anywhere she didn't want to be.

"so is it the producers or the pr management telling you to be this engrossed with me while we're promoting this movie?" vivienne rolled her eyes at the actor opposite of her. while they usually had separate dressing rooms for special events, today was a bit different. the only other room available was under construction and someone convinced the film crew that it was fine for them to share because 'they were a couple.' in theory, sure, it was fine. in reality, annoyed wasn't even the half of it. "you know, the more you feed into the idea of us, the more i have to kiss your ass," she scoffed, recollecting her thoughts on complimenting him in his entirety. beyond the looks, but his art, and the way he shines as a star; sharing a space and making sure she portrays body language that shows she really loves him with hand holding and small pecks on the cheek. never too much on camera, but just enough to keep the general public wanting more. taymour huffed quietly, the sound more disbelief and thinly veiled frustration than amusement as he bent to adjust the laces on his shoes, taking his time with it like precision might keep his temper neatly tied, too. he shook his head, tongue sweeping over his lips as if corralling the first dozen responses that so badly wanted out. he knew looking at her would only make it worse: eye contact, for some reason, always seemed to make the fire in his chest burn worse. "if i liked playing into this," he said at last, voice measured, "then i wouldn't be counting down the minutes until the nightmare's over." just like he knew she must be, too. his fingers tightened briefly against the leather before he straightened, finally lifting his gaze to her. "i think we can manage just a little while longer, don't you? then we'll go our separate ways." that was his parting gift for her that he had yet to share: he was almost done finalizing things with mass disruption. as soon as this wrapped, she could move on with her life and he could get over this... whatever the hell this was.
