Send me a "♛" and I'll summarize our muses relationship in one gif
mena: That's what I'm saying! It's crazy work. mena: But I'm sure your sister behaves WAY better, though! mena: 💗💗💗 right up my alley! send pics! mena: [ ... ] mena: I'm as happy as I can be? mena: I miss him mena: and it breaks my heart, because he's right there. But that ship has long sailed. mena: he's so cold and distant [deleted] mena: I made my bed, though, right? mena: PLEASEEE the drinks are desperately needed! mena: AND NO MENTION OF PROBLEMS. Just two girls having fun! Promise. mena: Speed dating!!! mena: I think that may be the best way to get out of her taking over your love life though! mena: Tell her I'll take up those dates though. The way mini me has been 😫 parched mena: Though she might ask you to introduce her next, so thread lightly!
geo: sometimes she can be a little bratty, but that may only be because i've spoiled her all her life. love her to pieces, though! geo: here's a quick fit check 🧡 [image] geo: oh, my mena... it's hard missing someone who's literally in front of you. in reach, but also not quite. geo: are you sure? have you guys talked... outside of the children, i mean. is there a chance he feels the same way? geo: perf! want me to come to you or meet in the lobby? first round is on me! geo: okay, FINE. if you think it's a good idea, maybe i will go on the speed dating adventure 😭 geo: you should come too! you are TOO hot to be parched. may even find a good fwb along the ride lol geo: she's definitely relentless at figuring me out. BUT if we go out tonight and meet guys interesting enough, maybe it wouldn't be an entire lie 🤭
not too long after they'd made it back to his dressing room, the gifted champagne had been popped open. a few glasses in, his tie sat half-undone, and somewhere along the way another button of his shirt had come undone, too... though that was less intentional than it was inevitable. the truth was that, for the first time this evening, he looked like he'd stopped bracing for impact and was just being, breathing. the room was much quieter than the hallway full of people who wanted pieces of them, faceless voices shouting behind cameras. here, it was just them, the faint fizz of bubbles, and the lingering aftertaste of a performance that had gone well. perhaps too well.
he wasn't so keen on lingering on the thought though, and thus pushed it from mind as he he tilted the bottle again, topping off her glass before his own with the automatic politeness of a man who didn’t know how to be anything else, even half a drink past sober. taymour leaned back in his chair afterward, shoulders eased, watching her over the rim of his glass with a small smile that didn't feel rehearsed. "y'know what i noticed?" he mused, smile easy as he tipped his glass toward her. "people are starting to pay more attention to you than this... package deal." this them. a compliment and genuine observation wrapped in one: she was a star, no doubt. the thought of it'll make it easier when we get to break it off, no one will notice me gone, crossed his mind then, but he opted to swallow it back with another swig of his drink instead.
or maybe the next drink or two was because his mind hadn't quite let go of the way she'd called him baby earlier and the quick press of her lips to his when no one was watching, nor the steady weight of her hands against his chest as she softly reassured that it was other to breathe around her. pr was supposed to begin and end the moment the cameras did; most days, it dropped like a curtain the second they were out of sight... but today, the warmth had followed him back here and settled in, stubborn and unfamiliar. and he wasn't exactly in a hurry to shake it off. "cheers... to another success."
a full day of back-to-back press interviews meant they'd be in an enclosed space, right next to each other, for at least eight hours. finally finishing off the evening meant going back to the same dressing room, then the same car, then the same apartment — but never the same bed. the time they've known each other and had to play the parts of a doting, real couple could only be explained by their managers as 'meant to be'. vivienne, of course, had her own thoughts. getting a recent divorce, then needing to be paired off with what some could only say is 'undeniable chemistry,' had her heart and mind constantly in battle. on one hand, not wanting to hurt tomas, but on the other hand, knowing she had to stop caring. taymour's charming demeanor made it hard not to like him. not because it wasn't real, but because that was who he naturally was. so much so that it had viv's pr agent constantly asking her, "why not try to fall?" ('in love' was the silent part)
tonight was no different. the perfect gentleman. hard to hate. everyone giving him compliments that viv will admit, he so rightfully deserved. "hm, what's that?" she responded, taking a sip of champagne. a sly smile slowly unraveled as he mentioned their 'package deal.' playing with the rim of her glass, she found herself entranced with him. maybe celebrating throughout the day with drinks wasn't the best idea, because all she could think about in that moment was kissing him again. "tryna get away me, already? didn't see that one coming," sarcasm exuding in her tone. bashfully looking away, she picked over the snack pile and grabbed some sour gummy worms. anything that'd help distract her hands from reaching for his.
she grabbed her glass again to clink with his, "cheers," a grin formed. realizing she wanted nothing more than to stay in this moment with taymour, her only constant right now. the one thing she was sure of, even if the relationship was only a ruse. "what's our next plan?" not knowing whether that question was meant for the next hour, days, or months, but wanting an answer nonetheless. viv held out the pack of gummy worms to share as a silent truce... to be nice for the time being. after all, it was a mistake that they were sharing a dressing room, but maybe it wasn't so bad to end the night with him.
belle knew exactly how this would go before she even opened her mouth. like every time before she'd ever had to convince her sister to go along with one of her crazy plans. it followed an extremely familiar pattern- like the five stages of grief in a way. first came the questions. then the excuses for why she couldn't. the excuses eventually turned into a semi-convinced geo once belle had buttered her up and promised a good time. and finally, the inevitable yes or no. okay, so maybe the four stages of grief.
the younger girl let out a small laugh as the questions came. "tu deviens de moins en moins originale avec tes questions et tes excuses, geo. you're telling me you'll suddenly be seeing someone within a couple weeks? i'll believe it when i see it!" though she would be genuinely so happy for her big sister, it sounded a little unlikely. belle had spent years trying to set her up to no avail. countless blind dates she'd cancelled, the smallest detail about a man enough reason to never call him back. "besides, if you were already seeing someone then i would know. because we tell each other everything. no secrets, right?" the thought made her agitated for a split second, guilt quickly following as she remembered she herself hadn't always been completely honest.
"be for real, you don't look a day over thirty-five. you're absolutely stunning, you've got an incredible job, and an even better head on your shoulders. you have your own money, your own place, anyone would be lucky to have you." and she meant it. no one compared to her sister. no one ever could. "and what if we both met someone? how cool of a story would that be?" she nodded her thanks to the server as he walked away, her attention immediately snapping back to geo. "we could always dine & dash... kidding." belle paused before speaking up again, not quite ready to move on from a certain topic. "you are single, right? not keeping a brother in law away from me?" feeling a sudden pang hit her chest as the words brother in law fell from her lips, bringing adrien to mind. no one could ever replace him, but she took comfort in knowing that, deep down, he would want her sister to move on. to be happy. just as much as belle did.
no one knew geovanna better than her very own sister. it was a fact. whether it was because she found it unnecessary to lie to her or because her sister was extremely nosy, is a matter for someone else to solve. i'll believe it when i see it. "okay, fair. i can't blame you for that," the older redhead raised her hands in defense jokingly. again, she was right — geovanna hated the prospect of moving on. was it because it meant she'd forget her husband, who died too soon, or because no one could compare? no, it's probably because she was afraid to lose someone else important to her after building a life together. it was a constant battle with her own heart and brain.
"right, of course... no secrets." trying to shake the thought of the literature professor out of her mind, she grabbed the glass of water and took a gulp, swallowing her guilt with it. he was worth telling her sister about, but only at the price of requited feelings — not just a schoolgirl crush. god, she needed something stronger to sip on.
belle always did an incredible job at trying to cheer up her older sister. geovanna adored her for it (even if it didn't always work). "i love you for always trying to gas me up, i don't know if it'll work this time though," she shook her head with a smirk. "c'est fou! i don't know what's a more outlandish thought: the fact you think we'll both meet someone at the same event or dining and dashing," she tried holding her tone seriously, but a loud laugh escaped instead. her younger mirror bringing the woman back to reality with the mention of a brother-in-law. "oh my god, belle. yes, i'm single!" it was already hard to think about going on a simple date; marriage would be another thing to tackle.
geovanna played with the rim of her glass, her eyes finally meeting belle's. "and when should i expect a brother-in-law or sister-in law?" she teased back. "you know, i'm only getting older," a playful grin spread across her lips, pretending like she was about to give her little sister a lecture like their parents used to do. truth is, belle's happiness was always at the forefront of geo's mind. no one in the world deserved true love more than the girl across from her.

Cecilia Martinez, from a poem titled "Winter Then," featured in A Magnificently Ordinary Romance: Poems
"A bit of both." She twiddled with the pen between her fingers before shrugging. "It's a bit of a placebo. Meant for people trying to break out of the habit of smoking, but still in a familiar manner. It's been nice to have; it's helped out quite a bit." With her still breastfeeding her daughter, it's been comforting to know she wasn't risking anything of passing something to her. Then, with the stress of her marriage on the rocks and with the Lotus, the familiarity of taking a hit has helped ease her. Now, if only taking a hit of a pomegranate-flavoured or guava-flavoured hookah pen could help with her and her husband to get right back on track. That would be great. Apsara paused from taking her leave, eyeing the waves then the cookies. She hardly thought for a moment before she began to smile. "If you're not opposed to the company, I'd love to. Besides, you have the best seat in the house. I could use some vitamin sea." Taking a spot close to the redhead, she sighed softly as she got comfortable. Any tension relaxing as she gazed out towards the waves. "What's your name?"
geovanna nodded her head as the other woman explained how the device in her hand worked. placebo — a harmless and therapeutic thing to make her feel better. that's a better coping mechanism than the redhead's personal vice: wine (that's for sure). "definitely helpful, maybe something i should look into to keep the stress away," she joked. she scooted over, to make enough space for their makeshift picnic at night; with a menu consisting only of shared cookies from france. "shell yeah, please," she pointed at the free space, signalling her to sit. "i'm geovanna, i'm on the fourth floor. you must be above me... i only ever see you and your cute little ones in the shared spaces. what's your name, again?" she reached a hand out to shake, "it's a pleasure to meet you... formally, that is."

BREAKING: VIVIENNE WITHOUT TAYMOUR FOR PRESS ON THEIR NEW MOVIE! when asked why, this was her response (live video):
"nothing dramatic... and no, i am not off the market, just yet," she let out a joyous laugh. seems like our favorite director couldn't be happier. but when you've played the game for as long as she has, what else would you expect? "hell, neither is tay." a shy smile spread across her face. bashfully, she looked down for a quick moment before staring back at the interviewer. "the truth is, he's at home making us dinner for valentine's day." there was a roar of 'awww's' behind the camera. "those flowers sent for me? from my favorite and forever leading man. take a guess at who it is," the winked, breaking the fourth wall.

“ You know what I’ve been thinking…? ” Mena spoke, breaking the comfortable silence that had fallen between them over the past few minutes of people watching. Though she did her best to not judge, there were outfits present that Mena wouldn’t have been caught dead in, even less in public. “ What if this entire thing is nothing but a money grab? An excuse to have us pay for the renovations they did? ”
vivienne let out a small laugh at mena's thought, picking at the fresh fruit on her plate as they waited to be finally served lunch. "well then i say, let's make our money worth it," she gave the other woman a subtle wink. the brunette thought about the basket that she won for her (ex) sister-in-law, in hopes that she'd share the gift with tom. viv never forgot how much he liked classic literature. with the past being a fleeting thought, she grounded herself back to reality just as quick. "which basket did you win?" she whispered in secrecy, "i won't tell."

“ Professor! It’s so nice to see you. ” Lupe approached, arms ready to lean into a side hug and a bright smile on her face. It never ceased to amaze her just how much Belle and her sister looked from the back. Had it not been for Isabelle’s wardrobe choices, Lupe would have surely confused them. “ How are you? ”
geovanna heard a familiar voice from behind that she didn't recognize as just belle's roommate anymore, it was now also known as the voice of tom's precious sister. "hi lupe," she returned the excited smile and went in for the side hug. "i'm good, just trying to see how much i've already spent at the auction," the redhead placed her wallet back in her bag. "how are you doing? did you get anything?"

“ That actually sounds pretty amazing. ” she replies with wonder and sheer amazement. Though Lupe was not one of them, she knew well just how repelled people could be when it came to new or foreign adaptations. Being the film fanatic that she was however, it only added dimension to her niche. She didn’t have to go into detail about it with Vivienne, who Lupe was certain understood her more than anyone else when it came to films and movie productions. “ I do hope it’s on the list for tonight! ” she added, though seeing as Viv had brought it up in the first place, she could only assume it was already on their itinerary.
Guadalupe handed over a single bag, daring Viv to ask for more with a single look. Between her and Tomas, Lupe wasn’t sure who pampered her more. It was a satisfying sensation, one that she held onto tightly for the longest of time, but as she grew older the more she felt the need to give back somehow. She accepted it all without complaints, not that she had any if she were honest, but always held the thought that one day she’d pay it back by offering the same love and kindness to her future niece or nephew. Lupe did her best to mind her business and not ask why they never had children, but she didn’t have a shred of doubt on them being the best parents that anyone could ask for.
Quick as they entered, Lupe placed the snack bags on the counter, leaving the ice cream for Vivienne to put away, while she did as instructed. “ It’s been good. I got a new student, though he’s not really part of the church. I don’t know if you’ve met Dante from the fifth floor? His son has been learning with some of my church students. ” she answered, smiling as she pictured the young boy’s grumpy demeanor that matched his father’s almost effortlessly. Just as soon as she heard the sound of kernels popping, the smell of buttered corn filled the air. “ I uh-... I read you’ve been seeing someone. An actor was it? ”
vivienne made sure to put the tubs of ice cream in the fridge, one for her and the other for lupe's roommate, thinking about how thoughtful the other brunette in the room always was. while she was listening to her faux sister, viv set up a snack tray with everything they just bought from the pit: gummy candies, chips, and the fresh popcorn that just finished in the microwave, plopped into a bowl.
"dante..." while viv didn't run into her neighbors much, she still tried to rack her brain for the few who had kids in the building, since she knew there weren't many. "the hunky man who keeps his door open from time to time, right? i could swear i've seen those kids on a different floor, too," she shrugged, setting the tray down, not trying to take the focus away from the other woman. "that's amazing, though, lupe! pretty soon you'll have a whole piano ensemble and can give us a little concert," a grin spread across her face as she uncorked a bottle of wine, pouring the contents into one cup, leaving the extra cup for lupe's vice. taking a sip, she continued, "are you indulging with me? because i can also make a mean mocktail." she hit play on the movie so that it could be in the background as they talked, sure that lupe had seen the very first movie of the franchise.
she walked back to the kitchen to see what was in her fridge. before yelling out the assortment of sodas, brands of sparkling and still water, and other juices, she was immediately thrown off by lupe's question. not that it was a secret who she was seeing, or that it even mattered because it wasn't (supposed to be) real. but the fact it was the sister she never had, paired with the sibling of someone she considered the love of her life, asking her this question? it caught her by surprise. vivienne cleared her throat before answering, "ah, yeah. taymour. seeing is generous terminology," she quipped. "something our publicists and managers came up with to promo our new movie. tomas knows about it."
her heart tugged a bit when she thought about her ex-husband in that moment, revealing this 'classified to the public' information out of... guilt? obligation? clarity? who knows? "what about you little sis? seeing someone?" the cold breeze from the fridge pulled her back to what she was originally doing. "— or undecided, right now? like your drink choice: sprite, coke, ginger ale, and all the diet versions, sparkling water, or still water?"

mena: quite honestly sometimes it feels like talking to my children. The attitude these younger kids have is beyond me! mena: Love how prepared you are. I could cry right now <3333 mena: I'll make sure to get all sexy for our date then! Do we want to match? I'm feeling a bit of orange for the night mena: I mean mena: I guess it depends. Life is still kicking me in the behind, but the kids are happier now that we're closer to dad mena: I'm really just trying to take things one step at a time here, but we'll see where it all leads mena: Hopefully more exciting times over on your end?
geo: god, imagining the idea of having kids at home, then going to work and having a different set of grown adults, who have attitudes like children would drive me nuts. geo: luckily, i only have a lil sister to worry about! geo: i definitely have something orange and ready to go! i'll get all dolled up just for you <3 geo: aht, aht... i ask about you, and you bring up the kids. just want you happy, too, mena 🥹 geo: first step is having drinks and dinner with me! should be easy enough! geo: exciting? faculty meetings and drowning myself in wine on the weekends are the closest i'll get. hmm, and i think my sister trying to get me out the house counts. geo: something about speed dating ? but i may just tell her i'm seeing someone to get her off my back 😭
her fingers tracing against his jaw was all but enough to undo him. tomas felt the familiar warmth spread throughout his chest at her closeness, the softness of her voice, and the way her eyes searched his as if they still knew him better than anyone else ever could. for a fleeting second, instinct took over, tilting his head against her hand as memory and muscle memory tangled together. yet, internally, he chastised himself: this was the dangerous part, where he always failed. how easy it all came back, how natural it felt to stand here and fall into it again. even when he knew better. especially when he knew better.
his gaze dropped briefly to the plate between them and to the fork pressed into his hand before lifting back to vivienne's face, studying her expression. there was a softness in his own there that he hadn't meant to show, tempered by something heavy and stormy beneath it. maybe things have changed, she said. "yeah," he murmured in quiet agreement, thumb brushing along the handle of the fork without lifting it. "i guess they have." the comment wasn't intended as an accusation or a slight, but instead stoof as quiet concession. his jaw tightened for a moment before easing again, a faint exhale slipping past his lips.
for a moment, he didn't pull back. not right away... not until he again thought of geo. these days, he always thought of geo. he shifted away then before he offered a small, rueful smile, eyebrows furrowing as his eyes dropped away. "you always did make it hard to say no."
for a quick second, as tom laid his cheek against her palm, she could almost swear they were back to who they were ten years ago. as soon as she thought about nuzzling her nose with his or leaning in for a kiss, he had already pulled away. strangers, again. as if they didn't just share the most intimate parts of themselves, physically, the night before. even though he was such a significant part of her past, there's a part of her that will forever want the answers to the 'what ifs' about them.
even the small stint of him agreeing that things have changed tugged at her heartstrings in a way she couldn't explain. grieving the loss of someone, while they were still alive, is a battle not even god's toughest soldier could endure. that's probably why vivienne finds it harder to let go these days. the brunette simply nodded in acknowledgment, trying to hold her tongue, again. did she have the right to start an argument? it didn't really matter when it was a case of mind, body, and soul... things she had devoted to the man for over a decade, all to be met with emptiness in the end. funny how life works.
"—but that's only because i make seeing 'yes' so easy, right?" the woman said playfully. she drank some of the coffee in the cup beside her, taking a glance over the rim at tom's body language. vivienne always joked that he was a man who worked with literature, but never had much to say, unless it was important (or to argue with her). his eyes always revealed much more. the way his body tenses up when he's deep in thought always made her want to know what he was thinking. she bit into a piece of bacon, figuring out how to formulate the question without it sounding accusatory. "what's on your mind, handsome? or is who bettter to ask?"
