This episode is very hard to watch. It hurts seeing Tomoro and Gekkomon argue and to see all that character progression Tomoro had take a few steps back. I know for a fact that people are quick to blame either Tomoro or Gekkomon for the conflict. While both are technically in the wrong, I do feel like one needs to understand why Tomoro is the way he is in order to understand why Gekkomon behaves the way he does.
The first ten episodes gives insight to how Digimon and their Owners are handled. Some use each other for their own benefits; others unknowingly cause a Digimon to hatch and wreak havoc. Some even use Digimon for their own gain. Some abandon their Digimon to fend off for themselves. Some even adopt a Digimon that isnât theirs. There are all kinds of bonds, positive and negative. Episode 10 establishes one essential truth regarding a Digimon and their owner: A Digimon is a reflection of their owner. They are the side that one wishes to become or the one that is suppressed. Makoto and Chiropmon are similar in personality, hence why they were able to accept each other. Then, what is Gekkomon to Tomoro?
I get that Tomoro is a complex character, hence why some conflicts that center around him are easily piled onto him and only him like back in Episode 4 where people only blamed him and not Reina for their conflict. However, I do feel like people need to understand Tomoroâs circumstance. His parents were arrested by the Ministry when he was 10 years old. Why they were arrested was never explained and Asuka never told him the reason. Given that Tomoro has always been having issues with his faulty e-pulse growing up, he probably thought that it could be his fault, but no one blamed him. Because they no longer had their parents, Asuka, who was 17 years old at the time, had to drop out of school and his band to care for him. Tomoro probably blamed this on himself too because his brother had to give up a lot for him. For the next five years, Asuka takes care of him, but his brother still keeps secrets from him like what sort of job he has or what heâs been doing when heâs at school. While Asuka treats him like a child, Tomoro knows that being treated like a child only complicates things because, to him, it means that Asuka canât trust him and it only makes the self-loathing grow even bigger. In a sense, Tomoro still doesnât know how to process the fact that he keeps losing people around him and no one really gives a solid explanation. Itâs because of this is why he has communication issues.
This is where Gekkomon comes in. He was born abruptly from Tomoroâs Sapotama. Because he disobeyed his brotherâs orders and chased after Gekkomon, Asuka became a victim of Cold Heart. Yet, he never blamed it on Gekkomon. Instead, he just thinks that itâs his fault. I think that Gekkomon is the suppressed childish innocence that Tomoro lost. If you look at a flashback in Episode 2, Tomoro had a good relationship with his family; despite his faulty e-pulse, he was loved and adored as the youngest child in the family. However, all that changed when his family was torn apart. Because of that he couldnât really be a child anymore, so he hides the selfishness that he once had just so his brother wonât find him a burden. This is why Gekkomon acts like he could be someoneâs annoying younger brother. And since Tomoro was someone who was always being taken care of, Gekkomon came into his life where he wasnât ready to take care of someone. Heâs not in a position to fill in Asukaâs shoes. However, he still does care about Gekkomon as he got worried about him whenever he was being unruly.
Regarding Gekkomon, he was annoying in this episode, but the episodes with Pandamon does show that he can bond with others, but itâs mainly for his own selfish purposes. Gekkomon never really had someone to explain things to him as well, but Pandamon showed that he can be reasoned with. Though, there is one thing that I am curious about. If Digimon are born from the feelings of their Owners, why doesnât Gekkomon seem understand how Tomoro feels about Asuka? Tomoroâs feelings are the strongest when it comes to his brother, so I do feel as if Gekkomon should have retained that part of his Owner, yet he doesnât. All he has are the immaturity and childishness. I guess it could be due to the faulty e-pulse, but I feel as if the glitch is also an easy target to put blame on.
This episode also introduces one of the Five Stars, Kaito. Like his representative element, he is hot-headed and destructive. His partner being Flaremon does raise a lot of attention as Flaremon is an evolution of Coronamon, who is a partner Digimon in some Digimon games. To have a âgoodâ Digimon be on the villain side is an interesting take⌠Anyways, the introduction of Kaito also reveals that Kyo used to be a part of the Five Stars. I feel like this was a theory majority had and Iâm glad itâs confirmed.
However, a problem Beatbreak has is that it introduces important lore regarding characters but never gets elaborated. Like, how do Kyo and Asuka know each other? It never gets explained. Was Reina born an orphan or was she abandoned by her family? She still has yet to be in the spotlight. What was Makotoâs life like as a member of the Kuonji family? Never gets explained in favor of having his episodes be more focused on the Yamada family issues. Kyo was a member of the Five Stars? Doesnât get touched upon. Weâre already at the double digits in terms of episode count, at least explain! This is why Tomoro has communication issues!
Anyways, Digimon veterans return for this episode as Kaito is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura who voiced Charisma in Appmon and Ryuji Mishima in Hackerâs Memory. Outside of Digimon, I feel like anime fans know his name by now, but if you donât know, Nakamura is the voice actor of Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, Umemiya in Wind Breaker and Shidou in Blue Lock. His partner Flaremon is voiced by Hisao Egawa who voiced Ogremon and Mugendramon in Adventure, and several Digimon in Ghost Game. Outside of Digimon, heâs the voice actor of Killer Bee from Naruto. Hosoda, Raremonâs Owner, is voiced by Taro Yamaguchi who voiced several Digimon in Ghost Game. The only Digimon first-timer in this episode is Raremonâs voice actor Joichiro Otsuki.
I apologize for how long this review has gotten. I do wonder how the conflict between Tomoro, Gekkomon and themselves will be resolved. Since there are two more weeks until 2026, I hope the payoff will be great because there were people who were expecting an evolution, but got an de-evolution instead. Will Kekomon turn back to Gekkomon next week? Will Gekkomon finally get an evolution before the end of the year? Let me know your thoughts and theories!
Wanted to make post abut my thoughts about 11th episode but most of things I needed to pour on this side are here.
Yet to add: Gekkomon doesnât understand Tomoro wanting to be alone with Asuka etc is because maybe Tomoro doesnât want it on that scale too. Look â Tomoro is younger by 7 years. His e-pulse I faulty. His brother was someone who he was looking up to, who already got many milestones Tomoro didnât reach yet. And still looks like Asuka was gentle brother even before arresting their parents. And then older brother was the guardian so the centre of Tomors life. AND THEN the whole cold heart syndrome. So for our boy Asuka was and is always most important and maybe it is tiring maybe he wants to no supress his own self all the time? Â Be more selfish but also in his mind he could be too selfish already. But that is just a thought.
As for â we know so little about everythingâ. Tbh I love this in BB because slowly all is explained. It is not like in Ghost Game where mysteries were never addressed properly or at all because of episodic nature of the show. I really like the slower but still intense pace of this show (at least those 11 episodes we have for now), in general media give infos and gratification too fast this days, I really missed the waiting for next week episode with so much suspense, talking about it making theories. So Iâm waiting for next week episode now, hoping for more lore, charas fnfo and plot twisting.
Thoughts about first 10 episodes of Digimon Beatbreak
This year is wonderful for any Digimon fan: we had DA02 digivices, new v-pet announcement, really awesome game in Digimon Story Time Stranger ( I really recommend it) and of course newest anime Digimon Beatbreak.
For now we had 10 episodes but you can already tell its series with great plot and chara exploration but also good with world building. Because it is not (well for now) connected of any other series itâs great for new fans also.
For me, someone wo sits in this fandom for over 25 years I can say that those episodes are really one of the best in general. We have mature plot points, can understand characters easily, even if their moral ideas are not too crystal clear. Still most important thing is bonding between humans and monsters. For this both sides need developed mind and unique chara traits. And I can say they have it. Digimons are their own beings, with own way of thinking, and while most want to protect and be near their partner (Owner in this series) they can be against their deeds â I really love this. Many series lack of this independence of thinking making digimons more like dangerous pets than beings that are emotionally bonded but still with their own personality ( I see you there Digimon TriâŚ).
Also the whole theme of dystopian AI world, we still are learning about.
This is not only good Digimon series. It is good series in general. At leas for now.
Canât wait to see next episodes ( 11th one looks interesting) and hope this trend will be there for entire series.

The shitiest translation of a book (known to me) aka why Polish translation of Good Omens sucks hard
Let me take you on an adventure! Sadly it wonât be  one during a nice and sunny day with happiness and laughter but rather a dreadful and containing mad giggles. What is that adventure you may ask? Why itâs an official Polish translation of Good Omens! Look at the photos below:
See all the plastic markers? Those are the mistakes I found in the book. But let me tell you. Those are not all of them! Just the major ones or ones that offends me the most.
You may ask: why did I use up most of my free time for over 2 months to do this?
Many years ago when I read the book for the first time I felt slightly disappointed. The book wasnât as good as I thought it would be. It was weird, because I really liked T. Pratchett books from Disc World series. Maybe because there was other author? Or maybe the whole concept how the world was built? At that time I couldnât even know that I would quite like the book in the future, and it wasnât my younger mind fault that it was so confused. But the translation. Years later after watching the series I was wondering, why the book felt a bit off to me. And then my friend opened the book at a random, it was page no. 382, and found a mistake there. I thought it would be fun to compare both the original and the official translation. Oh what âfunâ it was.
THE HISTORY
First few facts to settle it in the time line.
The book was first published in 1990. T. Pratchett was 42 then, and N. Gaiman - 30. They co-wrote modern book settled in more or less the same time as it was published. It is important information to take here, because it might explain some of the terrible translation errors.
Polish version was first distributed in 1992. It had 2 translators Jacek GaĹÄ zka and Juliusz Witold Garztecki. Itâs hard to tell more about the first one, but the other was 70 when he translated the book. Yes 70! And in his biography you can read, he was mostly rewarded for his books about army thins. My point is, while I donât know much about this person I donât think he was the right one for translating a book such as Good Omens. Maybe Iâm biased, but just because there are some army men and some war themes in the book  doesnât mean it has the right vibes.
But letâs dive into the errors and just wrong stuff I found by getting Polish book, English version paperback and pdf version for faster search of phrases.
There are 2 major types of errors:
âEditorsâ (errors that are not based off wrong translation per se, just lazy editing and some weird choices of the redaction).
Prologue and 2 part switched â the book should start with Eden scene not the character names introduction. Yeah in many old fashioned books it was other way around but this is author decision! You shouldnât switch it because it looks better for you that way!
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Chapters with numbers that not correspond with the parts in the book â yep in PL version chapters have numbers. What for? I donât know, because there isnât any table of content. And some chapter begin randomly not like bigger parts of the book.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Lack of days of the week â It is important for the flow of the book yet we canât read it like in the original at the begging of some pages 130-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Lack of the dividing signs between paragraphs â sometimes there arenât any. Because why to bother.
Lack of starting dialogue in a new line â there were few cases where someone didnât drop a new line for dialogue and I was so confused who said what.
Lack of dialogue lines â in few places whole dialogue lines are missed
Interpunction mistakes, fast speaking with the comas not the dots â so pacing, that changes the flow of the book
Splitting text in general was terrible.
The capital letters, cursive and normal dialogue â in this book it is important what kind of font property we use â normal dialogue is different than Death speaking or Aziraphale talking in different bodies. But in this translation it is messed up. The angel speaks with capital letters like Death. That so not cool for me⌠and take those small pleasures reading the book.
You can also see PL version of the book has distinct change of tone in the middle. Why? Because you can tell almost exactly when the other translator started to work. And well, I think they didnât communicate (donât know the reason) because same stuff ,same words, even same names arenât corresponding! You will see it later in the text.
story errors:
The first translator: looks like bitter man, who wants to correct the writers, adding 234532 not needed words, have sexist wording, and sometimes archaic speech. Makes one good joke and his translation of Agnes speech is nice. Maybe because he is closer to her times than to the times the book was written.
The major mistakes: too many words even for Polish version; Polish words are generally longer than English ones and sometimes you need to add words to have the same context. But this man goes so far with it is ridiculous. He takes 2 lines of good, easy translatable text that in PL would make max 3 lines and makes it to 5 lines. Why to add unneeded stuff?
Weird figures of speech that are not funny - those are really strong point in the Disc world book and in the original Good omens too. But the translation butchered those, drowning the wit and throwing random, sometimes even archaic, lines.
Crowley name â context mistake â Crowley name was Crawly first, the demon changed it later. Not in PL ver. Form the first line he was always Crowley.
Changing the text so context is changed too: like making an island form the a mountain, or changing a word that we donât know if itâs a flame because the description is so vague. Or sometimes it is just translated wrong in general, changing the meaning.
Archaic words â like Iâve said it was modern book in the 90â. It wasnât written in the 60â. Also new version of the book could be upgraded. Like in the 90 word âweekendâ wasnât popular in Poland but now it is. So why do we have Saturday-Sunday and not just weekendâŚ
The vulgarisms: bit too hardcore for a book that was co-made by terry Pratchett. Real Polish language has best vulgarisms and I love them but this book is not the place for most of them. Also because when they are there we could feel the impact. But you know what? Azz didnât say his âFuckâ line in PL version when being called back to heaven if page before it in translation he swears quite badly ( which also changes contextâŚ) Yep no âFuckâ⌠why the translator didnât write ânoĹź kurwâŚâ or something? I donât knowâŚ
Added words like âblack Bentleyâ. In the original that phrase was used once or twice not like 10 times. The reader remember this car is black I can assure youâŚ
Added whole sentences: sometimes the translator adds whole sentence without a reason. It is not his book⌠reallyâŚ
Billion in Polish is not billion or million it is MILIARD â yep, those people are not great with numbers.
Lack of sentences: too many lines before? Letâs cut some of them out⌠I donât know why but such a thing happens here too. Example is the Crowley pen scene.
Context mistake with the Bentley bullet holes â one of most confusing paragraph in PL version. I didnât know what the hell (or heaven) is going on. So I read the original and everything made sense. Crowley put new window glass with holes. It was that easy. In PL version it sounds somewhat different.
Mr. and âPanâ â mister in Polish is âPanâ, but somehow the book uses the Mr. shortening and sometimes Pan. Why not Pan all the time? Why to use Mister word in Polish version?
Spanish Inquisition â this scene is so butchered I just canât⌠in Pl version it sounds like someone told him it was fun not that the hell congratulated Crowley for the inquisition
Lack of consequent translation: Asmodeusz I Wormwood â names: this is same name in English version. Also sister Maryâs surname once is translated and later is used as it was in the original (in my opinion it should be translated so the reader would understand it better)
Kraken!! â do you know that first translator didnât knew that Kraken is a name of underwater past and thought it is some kind of light vulgarism? I couldnât make that up myselfâŚ
Ineffable â this word is translated on many occasion in a different way, sometimes changing the meaning like Az said it is ineffable and in PL version is âAzz couldnât find a way to explain thisâ really. Only later in the book the word is translated better. And as it is a running joke in the book it should be translated consistently in my opinion.
No food joke with deviled eggs and angel cake. And it was completely spoiled. The translator either didnât know what deviled eggs are or thought it is overcooked food and made Aziraphale not like it.  Even after one drink I thought out how to make food pun and not spoil the partâŚ
Fellâs name â I like the small pun that Az took last letters of his name to make a fake family name, however in Polish version translator didnât see the joke and put there some weird ass cringe pseudonym.
And of course homophobiaâŚâ and not one that Az look like a stereotypical homosexual man no⌠also the âsouthern pansyâ is translated each time differently and at least once so much more vulgar and offensive.
Killing the joke about healing the bike â I love this joke. It is silly and light but in PL version Crowley says it like it was some offense.
Snowballs in hell â Polish has equivalent idiom âhell freezes overâ but translator somehow didnât  use it and instead wrote âthere are no chances for it in hellâ⌠the meaning is lost
Being mean â translator makes some characters mean without reason
What is a bully? The translator apparently didnât know and messed up by saying itâs same as a loser
Recycling paper is same as recycling toilet paper for the translator â disgusting
Famine â the 6 letter word. In PL translate as âgĹĂłdâ. So a 4 letter word. Yet the character wrote his name in 6 letter in PL versionâŚ
Pepper reads erotic magazine for teens in PL version, not some stuff like Bravo⌠really? Pepper is 11.. she reads about boybands and shitâŚ. ReallyâŚ
Racism - the joke about menâs underwear (when Newt answered the phone) was changed to literally âpainting Chinese people whiteââŚ.
Shadwell - and his hate of southern people was changed to him hating English people⌠why? Also his âsouthern pansyâ saying, is translated as â English fagâ but also âfunny guyâ⌠yeah
Pollution - powietrze morowe and skaĹźenie â one translator gave Pollution a super weird name, the other one gave a proper one. That means book holds 2 names and people will be confused reading the second âchapterâ and later parts of the book.
Second translator was bit better. He didnât add so much from himself and didnât make as much mean comments and mistranslated. His errors are mostly literal translation of the words. That means whole sentences and even paragraphs sounds at least weird but in the long run, some doesnât have much sense at all  and sounds AI generated. But it was written in then 90. Well I donât have the 90 copy but the translators are the same on both covers so I think it is a very sloppy translation, or one was a complete amateur.
Also the translator doesnât understand the difference between chips and crisps. I donât know why he thinks kids eats fries and not thin potato snacks all the time.
I really canât write how the translation of the second part of the book is stiff and  not flow enough. Look at this:

Sometimes the translator is too lazy to find a word in Polish so he uses an English one and then puts description bellowâŚ. Why do that when there are Polish words for it?
Also why are most numbers written with letters and not numbers? Maybe it is normal to do so but for me reading the name of a number is more confusing than just seeing the number ( like writing five hundred and not just 500)
Also they had to explain what sushi is :D now really in 2019 the this book was re-release most people know what sushi is. Besides, even that description is wrongâŚ
There are also places when you could use Polish names for stuff or people. Like the painters to describe Tadfield. Most Polish people donât know ones in the original book. But when you use famous Polish painters the parallel/joke would be better.
The translator doesnât know or remember proper Polish idioms like kopnÄ Ä w kalendarz (kick the calendar - in English it would be âkick the bucketâ) means to die, using weird âpunch the calendarâ why?
Again sometimes when there are citations from the song one translator keeps the original, while the other one translates it. Itâs confusing but in the end the reader should know what the words means.
Translator doesnât know that sometimes you canât turn back(?) on the  road and for sure doesnât know how to translate it.
Second translator sometimes also used the language calque and not proper words.
The first translator wrote too much. This one cuts sentences sometimes.
And why is there explanation what Beelzebub name means?
Ending â where is forever? â ending of the book has a warm and slightly philosophical ending. With word âforeverâ as the last word. I donât know why Polish âna zawszeâ wasnât written there? it really takes away from the endingâŚ
There are hundreds of small and big mistakes really⌠( movie clip if I can)
To sum it up: someone had bright idea to give a modern book to 2 older men to translate, when they werenât really good with translation, or vibes etc. The book has been butchered ant thatâs super sad. It could make potential reader to not like it even if they read the original it would be fine.
I wish the publisher would hire someone re-translate it in or give it to another publisher.
Iâm not someone with a degree in English language but when someone like me can âcatchâ all the mistakes and errors, I wonder what professional would say. Good for me I can read in English enough to enjoy  the original, for all the others: better watch the series.

Well may I introduce to you âMairimashita! Iruma-kunâ (âWelcome to demon school! Iruma-kunâ)
Main chara is 14 yo boy who is quite mistreated by his carefree parents. Suddenly he is in the grasp of a demon who informs hi m, his parents sold him to the said demon. Iruma (our protag name) is terrified of course but then he sees that the demon just wanted to have a grandson, who he could spoil and send to demon school.
Sounds silly? Well it is but form first pages it has a whole heart. And really I didnât see that much good emotions form the story for a long time.
It is lighthearted, it has lots of humor, some serious moments but the charas are super strong point. Even side ones are more than 1 dimensional flatards.
Girls that has sexy shapes? But also personality strengths and weaknesses? woow!
Snapeish teacher who is sadistic and mean but not and he wants his students to grow and actually wants to be a teacher? He has a reason to have bigger grudge for main chara, but no he doesnât he is same harsh to everyone yet wants they safety and good education.
for BHA - Mineta like bit pervy chara? Actually interesting, ladies man but has some powers and is not an idiot.
Also ive read 21 volumes of this manga and kids there are not stronger than adults and donât have to save the world. once had to save school but it was just a moment and if someone informed teacher it would be different. other challenges are... well school topics.
Main chara has to wear drag? At first embarrassed but later he is ok with it.
Interesting powers? Yes.
Baddies? Super weird and twisted. it is 20th volume and the âevilâ is not clear yet, thats why charas could evolve.s
And I really like all of them. Cute, everyone has own traits own strengths and weakness. And Iruma is a human all the time.
Also many things that irritates me in most of comic for teens boys are showed here better, because author has the skills and also they are demons.
Ah there is an anime too! It covers 5 first volumes. check it out.
I recommend it much to anyone who wants to âawwwâ and not too complicated story of coming to age. Iruma is just great.
