Something I've been seeing a lot of in book spaces in general (this doesn't apply SOLELY to ACOTAR fandom spaces but DOES apply to them) is the fact that people seem to have a difficult time reading books with characters they don't relate to point for point. If the character isn't exactly like them (exactly their background, exactly their personality, a match to their place in society, the way their life is structured, their values, etc) they don't have an interest. And it really just points back to the breakdown in empathy we see in the real world, I think. It's one thing to like reading characters you can relate to, it's one thing to like representation (especially if you're in a marginalized group) but this goes well beyond those things. Not being able to understand a character because they aren't you is absolutely bizarre behavior.
