Also, a little backstory that we definitely planned from the very beginning and absolutely didn't just make up now:
Remus stole the pink mug from his first publisher as petty revenge against his editor, Dolores Umbridge. She had it out for him from the start, making him rewrite sections over and over again. His debut novel (a magical realism story that used werewolves as a metaphor for class and disability) didn't sit well with the conservative, pro-government Umbridge. She insisted that he rewrite the entire thing as a romantasy instead. Remus refused. In retaliation, Umbridge made sure the book's release was as low-key as possible, with virtually no advertising. She even changed the cover to resemble a cheesy YA romance, practically guaranteeing that readers' expectations wouldn't match the actual story. The novel was doomed to be a major financial flop.
