Actually, Brazilian zouk has a very strong presence in Europe. I understand why you've never heard of it, though, because it really isn't very well known in Italy. But it's very popular in Germany, Amsterdam and Prague. In those places, you can find weekly classes and frequent workshops. There are even well-known festivals held every year.
The one I'd recommend most is the Dutch International Zouk Congress, if you'd like to check it out and have the chance. It's taking place in the Netherlands this October.
My favorite will always be ZNL (Zouk Nonstop London). That was such an incredible time.
