Ψ Happy Birthday, Philip Zimbardo! Ψ
Zimbardo isn’t just my url; he’s a notable psychologist who was deeply interested in the good and evil nature of humans.
A few quick facts about him:
He was born in New York City to a family of Sicilian immigrants. He faced many prejudices, which is what sparked his interest in human behavior (x)
He had a triple major in psychology, sociology, and anthropology (x)
He was a professor at several universities, including Yale (x)
He ran the Stanford Prison Experiment in 1971, which not only provided raw insight into the dark nature of human behavior, but also helped paved the way for the ALA’s ethical guidelines (x)
He wrote The Lucifer Effect, The Time Paradox, and The Time Cure (x)
Someone made a crocheted doll of him named Zimby (photo)
He turns 85 today. Keep going strong, Zimbardo!
Mom-mom didn't break out the Irish fare this year, so I took it upon myself to cook for my and my boyfriend's family for St. Patrick's Day~🍀

I don't post too much about my sexuality/gender, but I saw something earlier that really made me think.
Accepting that I was pansexual wasn't too difficult at first, because I thought I was bisexual for years and had already accepted that I wasn't straight.
That was, until I got into a serious relationship with a man. I suddenly felt like I was "betraying" my pansexuality. Which sounds dumb, but it's how I felt.
Then I started to really think about my gender identity, how I always felt in the middle of male/female. But then, all this stigma came forward about gender and I was afraid to admit that I was androgynous, even within my own community.
I don't even like saying I'm pansexual because I always immediately get, "that sounds made up", or I have to explain it just to get immediately get shut-down. So sometimes, I would say that I'm bisexual, because I had already become desensitized from those kind of questions/stigma (I hope that makes sense). But that made me feel worse because I was identifying with something I'm not.
THEN I thought, "How can I advocate for my own community when I'm too much of a coward to be honest about myself??" Or worse, I have thoughts that, "These are all just made-up, I need to stop putting labels on myself and just live".
This post doesn't have much of a point; it's more of a vent. But I guess the moral is that even if you live like yourself, it can still be difficult to accept who you actually are. And I think that can apply to outside the community as well.
I was tagged by @crypticbees to put my lock screen, background screen, and the last song I listened to! So we got Starfighter by @hamletmachine and "Lights Out" by Breaking Benjamin on Pandora. Actually, I tag @hamletmachine !
