Okay… Lemme think:

Kade seems like the type of person to not like being touched. I don’t have any proof, and will not have proof of any of these headcanons until the movie comes out, but I can just feel it in my bones. I think he can manage shoulder pats or something small, but hugs are a no. Will freeze up and say ‘okay’ awkwardly and pat the person’s back a few times.

Given what Shawn Levy has said— the fact he’s had to ‘do things to survive’ (oh good, more implications), I think Kade knows how to hide money on him (the same way Luke put his cash in his boots in The Place Beyond the Pines). Authority figures in this galaxy are horrific, and you need to get smarter before you get killed, so hiding money on your person is a good idea.

Because every character of Ryan Gosling has a jacket (I need K’s), I’m throwing Kade into the ‘takes comfort in his jacket’ category. It’s probably one of the few possessions he’s owned for a while rather than recently came into possession of (like how Luke had the bike for years before it was destroyed by Robin, hence the crash out, or Colt’s attachment to the Miami Vice stunt team jacket).

Would rather die (I’m fearful of this happening, actually) than talk about his feelings. Dude clearly has issues, why the fuck would he want to talk to someone— let alone open up— if they’re going to leave, die or betray him? Also, it’s just difficult… Fuck talking about your feelings (his words, not mine).

Definitive soft spot for kids. He’s awkward as hell around them, but gives a tiny wave or smile if he’s sure no one is looking. He treats them like adults— like his equals— hence why kids gravitate towards him. He still has no idea why they always attach to him. Kade thinks he’s boring and/or not good for them.

Out of left field, but I’m going off the fact someone was welding the starfighter and he clearly knows his way around mechanics: Gift giving is Kade’s number one act of love. Money is tight in a shitty galaxy, but he can create using the things around him. So, he makes things for the people that he loves— people that stick around— to tell them he cares. Will probably leave their gifts somewhere he isn’t so when they find it, he doesn’t have to hand it over himself. He’ll put a little note beside it, something like ‘you needed this’ or ‘because you like [whatever]’.

I sound insane, don’t I? Making headcanons of a character that was only shown in a teaser. At D23. Yeah, I’ve officially lost the fucking plot.
