I just wanted to follow up that's such a lovely detail!! I really love Julia and Enoch and I'd love to know more about her in particular whenever you have the chance <3 Keep up the good work!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad <3
I suppose I haven't spoken about Julia as much, due to her being a character I made close to myself. As both her and Enoch are meant to be comforts for myself, a lot of Julia's backstory comes from my own current situation and fears.
which is why this ask took a few days to get to lol.
Julia has recently moved to Enoch's area when she goes to seek out his shop. She'd had her grandmother pass away suddenly, and had lost her mother some years ago. Due to family issues and underhandedness from relatives, she ended up losing ownership of her home and had to quickly move. Enoch's area is relatively low income in Louisiana, so Julia's move wasn't really a choice.
She was left with grief and pain, and quickly having to move and find a job. Any dreams she had of becoming a writer were put on hold.
She started training at a morgue locally, a job she's happy with getting, but there was no helping the loneliness of it all. There was no going back to better times, so she became desperate for distractions. She started looking up paranormal places to visit locally. Julia didn't expect much from any of this, but at least if she was scared, she wasn't left thinking of the pain. It gave her an a hobby to focus on, even if it wasn't always safe, and most times she expected a scam. But it was better to think of possible ghosts than the bills she needed to pay. Horror was always a welcoming distraction for her, even if ended up being a silly tourist attraction.
Enoch's shop was something she heard of over time and it piqued her interest. She wasn't familiar with the local stories and grumbling's about the odd man's shop at the edge of town. Only that he apparently sold things you shouldn't ever buy and that his name always came up when any out of towner went missing.
So she met him out of a desperation for small happiness. She didn't expect to be so intrigued with Salvatore Enoch and his strange shop. But he was kind spoken and eccentric. His odd look and the strangeness of it all had her imagination running. So she tried to visit when she could. His stories kept her wonderfully distracted, and the times he would spook her would make her laugh. Any fear felt safe. Like a campfire tale.
For Enoch, he couldn't pin why Julia kept coming around. His presence normally drew selfish terrible people to him. People with awful desires that he could twist to get a meal. Julia didn't have a lick of cruelty to her, she did have wants, but Enoch wasn't someone that hurt normal people. He kept asking "Come on now, there must be somethin' you want. I don't want your money, but I want ta' know." It was only when she finally relented and asked if he'd like to go on a date with her that the human realization hit Enoch that she simply enjoyed his company. Enoch enjoyed talking to people, and lit up whenever Julia had any question, but he doubted the whole time that someone would actually enjoy being near him.
From there it became a slow growth between the two of helping each other feel human again. The spark of connection between two people in desperate need of happiness.
