He wrote books and told stories and grasped for attention, just to get enough power to protect his world. His friendship ended with Comfrey over it, because she was so blinded by the sky that she didn't look down at where she was. And he stared into the maw of Straka and saw everything he'd ever fought, stuffed into one monstrous vessel. And it almost consumed him.

Idk if I can properly put it into words but the ih asked "what's the catch" specifically to zumahras honor system but that type of unwavering trust and kindness is found through our zood and I think it has something to do with the separation of the energies
Zood has no corrosion or erosion, no corrosion of morals no erosion of trust that's the catch is they have separated themselves completely from the "bad" parts of being a living being
It's similar to how torse's golden heart stops him from feeling rage but it also stops him from feeling a lot in general
On the flip side zern does not have growth or change, to grow past the pain and change for the better
