“Demon is the word you’re looking for,” he corrects, face scrunching at the mischief his younger brother was capable of, “Don’t be fooled by his looks.”

“Taehyung wouldn’t have kept me waiting,” you huff, but Yoongi hears no bark in your tone. He rolls his eyes and raises his left wrist into view, “It’s 12:05, I was five minutes late. Five.”

“Oh, so you do have the watch I gave you,” you say, sarcasm coating your words, “Pity you can’t read it properly.”

Ignoring the jab at the end of your sentence, Yoongi turns his body to face yours completely. Slowly, he uncrosses your arms from your chest, and holds your hands in his. You stay like that for too long: with Yoongi’s thumbs rubbing circles into the back of your hands, with Yoongi’s gaze focused on you, with Yoongi’s thoughts clouded with your name.

“Of course I’m wearing it,” he says softly, dropping one of your hands in lieu of resting his against your cheek, “You got it for me.”

Truth be told, Yoongi hasn’t taken the damn thing off since he got it from you. He remembers the note it came with, someone about an eye for an eye; you repaying him for the necklace he gifted you a few weeks prior. The gifts became a common exchange between the both of you. Necklaces and watches turned into macaroons straight from Paris and limited edition vinyl CDs from American record shops; scavenger hunts and dinners on the river; vacations and private parties.

Yoongi thought you thought it was another game between you, another challenge to conquer. His brother told him you were both dumb for courting the other and not owning up to it. Yoongi thought that claim to be ridiculous. Jimin said that if he kept it up, one day he’d run out of things to give and things to get, and he’d have to man up and tell you that you’re what he wants. 

(Jimin was right. Yoongi would never tell him that.)

“If you came for your gift tonight, I’m afraid to tell you I’m empty handed,” you tease, with a smile.

He smiles back, pretends to ponder the idea, “If you’re out of ideas, I have a request.”

His words make you raise your eyebrows in expectation. You wait for more, but Yoongi is quiet, takes the time to survey your face and conclude that what he wants isn’t ridiculous, maybe even requited.  

“And what would that be?” you asked, your focus flitting between both of his eyes. He finds your nerves endearing. The sincere concern in your expression makes him giddy. Makes him sure of what he’s about to do next.

“You,” he breathes, dropping your other hand to to cup the opposite cheek, “Can I kiss you?”

It leaves you smiling like a school girl. You take the liberty of raising your hands to rest your wrists on Yoongi’s shoulders before speaking, “About damn time.”

He has allow himself room to chuckle before leaning down and closing the gap between your lips. 

And on the balcony behind him, Jimin watches with a contended grin. He was right, after all, about both things. His older brother was stupidly in love with you, and he wasn’t half as bad at this prince thing as he made himself out to be, either.
