Jimin x Yoongi in Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo

A/N: Happy New Years (Eve) 🥳 first post in like over a year lol whoops. Hope everyone is doing well :) also tumblr has weird format now so it might look really weird and choppy so sorry about that!

Yoongi is taken aback when something damp, soft, and form-fitting presses delicately against the curve of his mouth, gently puckering against the dip of his Cupid’s bow. His entire body flinches back, eyes snapping shut in his surprise.

When the feeling dissipates from his lips, he cracks his eyes open to be met with the source, not expecting to see wide cocoa eyes facing him head-on. The droplets from the bubble still linger in the air as they find solstice in the particles surrounding the two boys, almost framing Jimin and embedding his shape into Yoongi’s mind. Yoongi can’t take his eyes off the other, not that he’d ever want to, and Jimin feels the same way. They continue staring at each other, their gaze following the other’s even as Jimin’s body slowly descends and floats to the ground so he now stands directly in front of Yoongi. Their grins are evident by anyone near — hell, Yoongi is sure that even his father who’s pulling into the harbor can see his wide smile. Jimin’s is even larger and his arms quickly encircle Yoongi’s neck as he pulls him flush against him, legs wrapping around Yoongi’s waist as Jimin tries to get even closer by snuggling his face into the older’s throat.

Yoongi is laughing now, gums peeking out and stealing the show of his smile as he spins the other boy around and around. He can’t believe he met Jimin. He can’t believe he gets to keep Jimin and spend his every waking day with him. Jimin is his and Yoongi is Jimin’s and he’s so damn ecstatic about it that he can’t even comprehend the fact that his entire town was about to be submerged underwater because of their seemingly ill-fated love.

Love.

Gosh, Yoongi loves Jimin. Jimin loves Yoongi. It’s wonderful. He loves the word ‘love.’ Loves Jimin. Loves loving Jimin. Loves having Jimin love him. Love.

Yoongi might be crying.

Jimin squishes and nuzzles his face against Yoongi’s to negate the ‘water spilling from his face’. It causes Yoongi to sob harder. He loves the boy clinging to him. The boy who was actually a goldfish that Yoongi rescued from a glass jar just a few days prior. How their love for one another caused Jimin’s power to emerge stronger than ever as he rid of his flippers and sprouted legs and hands for himself to meet Yoongi again.

What was a chance meeting turned into such a pure love it made the world become unbalanced and set for destruction. It drove the moon to kiss the Earth and set the tides past the shores to encase everything in its wake. But what seemed so damned is what ultimately rescued the town: Jimin and Yoongi’s love.

Their love that was so innocent, so pure, so good that once Yoongi uttered his acceptance of Jimin to Jimin’s beautiful mother, the world became balanced and order was restored once more.

Yoongi is so happy. He never would’ve thought something so great would’ve came from running down to the ocean for his daily game of Sailor.

When he first approached the steep hill to get to his tiny ocean front beach, a vibrant red instantly stood out against the cool hues of the water. The closer he got, the more he noticed the glimmer of something trapping the red and that’s when he realized that it was a glass jar enclosed around what he presumed to be marine life.

Yoongi treaded out into the shallow waters, picking up the glass jar and confirming his suspicions of a poor goldfish stuck inside of it. Yoongi pulled and pulled and pulled but the poor fish was practically sealed airtight against the container. When he finally looked up, large looming waves started for him, eyes practically staring him down waiting for him to beg for mercy. Yoongi sprinted, the trapped fish still stuck in his arms as he sought refuge up the hill his house was located on.

Once he finally escaped the water’s wrath, an idea popped into his head as he tripped over a large rock. Taking it in his other hand, he smashed it against the glass, effectively breaking it and thus rescuing the fish that was stuck inside. He found his bright green bucket and carefully placed the red goldfish inside, tears streaming down his face as he begged for its survival.

When the fish sprouted water at him in a fountain-like fashion, Yoongi couldn’t hide his bright smile as his pink gums flashed the red fish. After that, he carried the fish with him everywhere, swearing to protect his newfound friend.

However, that promise was short-lived as the ocean demanded its powerful magic-wielder to return. The waves were the biggest Yoongi has ever seen and no matter how tightly he gripped the pale, his aquatic friend was long-gone once the sea finally abated after successfully capturing their treasure.

Yoongi cried. He cried so much and no matter how hard his mom tried to console him with sweets and treats, Yoongi couldn’t let go of the grief he felt at losing his fish, his friend, his Jimin.

He desperately wished for Jimin’s return that night, even leaving his neon bucket on top of the picket fence of his house so Jimin would know where to go.

Then, the very next day, the storm started.

That was when his friend returned to him in the form of a real boy instead of the goldfish Yoongi was familiar with.

Yoongi couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched the large fish-like waves climb ever higher up the mountain with his mother’s car as she sped to get home. What was even more surprising than the sheer magnitude of the waves were the little boy who was running on them in order to get to Yoongi and his mother. No matter how much Yoongi rubbed his eyes, the vision didn’t disappear and the boy continued running closer and closer to him.

It was when they finally reached their home when the little boy hopped off the waves and rushed straight towards Yoongi, hurtling himself into his arms. Yoongi held him, albeit his confusion, not recognizing the boy who could run on water.

When he finally set him down and got to stare and recognize the bright red hair on the boy is when Yoongi’s mouth dropped. “J—Jimin?”

The boy smiled, head bobbing up and down excitedly as he tugged on Yoongi. “Jimin! Jimin! Jimin loves Yoongi!”

Yoongi was smiling just as wide. “Mom! Mom, it’s Jimin!”

His mother could do nothing but accept the circumstances as she ushered the young boys into the house for refuge from the nasty storm. Jimin stuck by Yoongi’s side for the entirety of the night, refusing to let the boy he loved out of his sight again.

When his mother left to go help the elderly women at the senior center, Yoongi was tasked with taking care of himself and Jimin which he readily accepted. He wanted to prove he could be the man of the house whilst his father was away at sea. However, when his mother didn’t return and Jimin and Yoongi found her car abandoned is when Yoongi finally broke down. He was so scared and helpless and lonely and—

“Yoongi. Yoongi, let’s go find your mom.” A sleepy and gentle voice broke him out of his stupor. Yoongi’s tears were still rushing down his face but Jimin’s warm hands clasped tightly in his own and his dazed and droopy eyes from just waking up and the soft natural melodies of his voice that comforted Yoongi—

Yoongi loved the boy in front of him. He loved him so much. He could never feel alone with Jimin by his side.

Yoongi nodded, desperately hanging onto Jimin’s chubby fingers as the two set off to find Yoongi’s mother and incidentally solve the intense flooding that encased Yoongi’s entire town.
