#x-men stuff

I could spin some theories about how Hank’s utter confusion about what he might do to move things along with Raven/Mystique could be partly because he didn’t want to do much with her.  And then we could go the route of explanation by various takes on Hank’s sexuality, including my own pet theory that he’s probably actually more attracted to Charles and not yet realizing that.  Because in the second movie, they are so, so Boyfriends with Angst and Issues, and even in the first film, Hank's races with Charles felt more charged and playful and flirty than his gaping-mouthed confusion around Raven. 

But sure, Hank/Raven is there in some fashion, and maybe could have been more convincing to me if they’d given it a bit of space to develop (rather than spending all this time on side mutants who get zero storyline love in the second movie, *hands*).  If you ship them, you could easily argue that Hank is just a shy geek and so isn’t sure how to make a move, or doesn’t want to get physical because of his own self-consciousness about those Beast-y feet, etc., etc. 

But what was really interesting to me is how totally absent any Hank/Raven romance was in Days of Future Past.  Watching that one first (obvs out of order, I know), I would never have said, “Oh, yeah, those two are still awkard/smarting/dealing with some past thing between them!”  It was like zilch between them romantically/chemistry-wise, except of course Hank’s worry for her as a fellow mutant, as Charles’s adopted sister, and yeah, as a problem with future continuity for all of them.
