#WorldBiryaniDay Biryani made its way to India in 16th century (atleast by the popular version of Mumtaz Mahal) and later it was further developed in the royal kitchens of Mughols, Awadhs of Lucknow and by the Nawabs of Hyderbad. In all these authentic version one can't find Tomato. Tomatoes (a poor man's apples) was introduced to India by the Portuguese much later than the arrival of Biryani.
