Helleborus HGC ‘Ice n' Roses Rose’ is an interspecies hybrid (Helleborus x ericsmithii and Helleborus x hybridus) from Germany. This new strain of hybrids are considered extremely robust and disease-resistant. They thrive even in sunny locations and flower for a long period of time, with new flowers constantly forming on the strong flower stalks.

On a street in Inverness, Scotland, the winter flowering Prunus × subhirtella 'Autumnalis Rosea' (winter-flowering cherry, rosebud cherry) was putting on a show that will continue through to spring during spells of warmer weather. This cultivar is normally grafted.

The early flowering snowdrops are in flower including the elegant Galanthus elwesii 'Godfrey Owen' (greater snowdrop). This bulbous perennial has grey-green leaves and white flowers with 6 symmetrical outer petals which open to give a wide, lamp-shade-like form. This is one of my favourite cultivars.

The purple, white and orange flowers of Crocus sieberi subsp. sublimis 'Tricolor' (three-coloured Sieber's crocus) add vibrant early colour to this meadow. This cormous perennial has early, fragrant flowers and on warm winter days will attract pollinators.
