The Soulful Sound of Wilson Pickett | 💐 Happy Birthday 💐 Wilson Pickett, also known as the “Wicked Pickett,” was an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the 1960s with hits like “In the Midnight Hour,” “Mustang Sally,” and “Funky Broadway.” He was known for his powerful voice, energetic performances, and raw, soulful sound that influenced countless musicians across genres. Pickett was born in 1941 in Prattville, Alabama, and grew up singing gospel music in church. He moved to Detroit in the late 1950s and joined a local vocal group called the Falcons, where he began to develop his soulful style. He went solo in the early 1960s and signed with Atlantic Records, where he recorded some of his most famous songs. Pickett continued to make music throughout the 1970s and 1980s but struggled with addiction and legal troubles.
