How did Eugene exactly abandoned Narrator? Does he still hear him? Can't Narrator just reset the narrative to have Eugene back?
So I have a whole different interpretation of TSP and it just bled into its own AU. I'll be replying to these questions in order:
Eugene didn't just abandon his Narrator, but his Parable entirely. He does not regret his decision.
No, Eugene doesn't hear his Narrator. He never ever wants to again. Though, unfortunately for him, the Paraverse cannot exist without Narrators. So he's stuck with hearing the voice of someone who had been tormenting him for who knows how long each time he breaks into a Parable to hide from his Narrator who's hunting searching for him.
As I said at first, my interp of TSP has become its own AU and this is hopping to my AU yapping here. In my rendition, the Parable is just a massive laboratory meant to experiment on just how resilient Eugene's mind is when exposed to multiple existential crisis-enducing and reality-questioning incidents. The "resets" are just to, well, reset the whole procedure to take new tests on Eugene's mind in newer routes. The "narrative" is nothing but a sugar-coated white lie to keep Eugene immersed on the Parable and not ruin the experiments. So when Eugene fled from his Parable with the Line™️, Devin can't bring him back since he's now out of the Parable.
