I’m wearing my Latin Club’s recent Metallica pun shirt, so it’s a good day to talk about my renewed appreciation for this band. I spent a lot of time with Metallica’s Black Album when I was 15. My guitar teacher burned me the CD, and I got a guitar tab book, so I learned to play about half the songs on it from him. Then I stopped listening to them, and have spent almost twenty years without ever hearing them on purpose. I’d only ever heard the one album (the CD era, artist deep dives were prohibitively expensive…) and once I’d worn it out, I wrote them off as too adolescent. (To be fair, they’re pretty adolescent.) But I had a wild hair to listen to the black album again about a month ago, and I was surprised—first by how much I enjoyed, second by how well I still knew it. Twenty years later I remembered every note. So now I’ve started doing what I wish I coulda done at 15 and streaming all their albums, and I’m having so much fun. I’m so happy to be getting back into this band after so long away. Anyway, I came up with a lie to tell the real Metallica fans, wanna hear it? (Clears throat) Oh yeah, I started listening to Master of Puppets after Stranger Things. But then I heard one of their lesser known albums, the Black Album? And I think it’s even better! That’s real, original metal. #metallica #vinyl #vinyladay #lp #vinyloftheday #vinyligclub #vinyljunkie #vinylcommunity #vinylcollective #instavinyl #vinylgram #recordcollector #nowspinning https://www.instagram.com/p/CoN5p5huS1H/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
