The New Discourse
Who actually created the first motion picture?
The history of film is super interesting, but also super confusing. The first motion picture was either created by Thomas Edison, Émile Reynaud, William Dickson, Auguste and Louis Lumière (as if), Eadweard Muybridge, or ancient egyptions, or freakin cavemen.
Personally, I think Émile Reynaud deserves the credit here. His Theatre Optique predates The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat Station by three years, in the process inventing both the silent film and the animated cartoon at the same time!
