Disappearing under the waves, this lone smooth coated otter soon reappears with an invasive hybrid grouper in its jaws. Dragging its prized catch to the shoreline, it soon begins its feast, going for the fish's vulnerable gills first. Smooth coated otters can spend a few minutes underwater without surfacing, as well as using their sensitive whiskers to detect potential prey. 🦦🐟

At a very long distance I watched this badger and coyote hunt together in Lamar Valley. The hunt lasted for at least 45 minutes and covered over a half a mile before they left my view. The badger seemed to be doing most of the heavy lifting digging for ground squirrels while the coyote hoped The ground squirrel would get away or come out a different hole. There was a very brief tug-of-war at one point, but the badger quickly won out. Amazing animal behavior. Yellowstone National Park.

A Badger bringing a ground squirrel back to its den where she had one cub. I thought the baby would run out to meet her but instead she dropped the squirrel inside the den. Badgers can be aggressive and have some set of teeth on them.
