// 𝑅𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑢𝑝𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑒 What my week looks like. 𝑥𝑜 𝑁𝑜𝑒𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑖 #whatthisweek 𝑅𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 Despite my plans to start Babel, I picked up The Golden Enclaves, the finale to Naomi Novik’s Scholomance series; I was in the mood. Then I'm reading Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman with @hallyreads & the #superlowkeybookclub ♡ I’ve also been keeping The Lost Spells by Robert Macfarlane close by. #moodreader 𝑊𝑎𝑡𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 …The Muskox cam live from LARS at the University of Alaska Fairbanks via @exploreorg lol. I use it as ambience when I’ve got time to myself & need just enough quiet in the house, not so much that I feel too alone, you know? It’s so peaceful & you can even catch a glimpse of some reindeer in the adjacent pasture. There’s also a Kitten Rescue cam, but that one makes me sleepy. 𝐿𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 So, our new downstairs neighbors constantly blast house music at all hours of the night; it’s like living above a club that operates seven days a week. Seriously, it doesn’t matter that it’s a Monday night. We actually have no idea how these guys function because they start in the early afternoon & sometimes go on until well past 4 am. Like how do you live? This week, I started blasting Christmas music in the mornings. 😀 𝐿𝑜𝑜𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑 𝑡𝑜... More rain! Also, we’re planning a few autumn walks & hikes this month & I am so eager to hit the trails. Hey everyone it’s Wednesday! This is feeling like a super long week already and I’ve only worked two days 😅 today I’m joining in with a post that @antipodeanbookclub tagged me in #whatthisweek 👀 Watching I’m loving the new series of both Strictly Come Dancing and The Great British Bake Off. Love Autumn in the UK because of this! 📖 Reading - see photo! These are the first books I’ll be reading in October. They were chosen by Mr B for me from each of my bookshelves and I think I’m going to have a fantastic reading month because of his picks! 👂🏻 Listening - I’m listening to A Mother’s Reckoning on audiobook by Sue Klebold. Her son, Dylan was one of the shooters in the Columbine tragedy. 😁 Looking forward to - I’ve got a theatre weekend at the end of October with bestie @stevieredman We’re going to see Back To The Future and Pretty Woman and are staying over in central London. I was tagged in the #bookishconnections and #whatthisweek and it was combined so I'm combining it too 😆 be ready for a lengthy caption! 🪐Is there a genre you tend to stay away from? Romance and Russia inspired books. Although the latter isn't a genre, Russia/Slavic inspired books tend to rub me the wrong way as I am half Russian and grew up with the various folk tales used in these kind of books. So no, I have not read the Grisha Trilogy or the Bear and the Nightingale and really don't plan on doing that. Romance is...self explanatory although my mum enjoys them more than me haha. I also don't like horror. 🪐Is there a book on your shelf you're ashamed you haven't read yet? The Odyssey...The Hobbit...The Kite Runner...not necessarily ashamed because I know that the time for them has not come around but people don't exactly react in the most positive way when I tell them I've not read the Hobbit. I've watched the movies! I know it's not the same but The Hobbit and LOTR movies are wonderful and I don't think anyone will disagree 🪐What is your worst habit as a reader? I fold corners (mainly on books I've bought second hand) and also eat while reading (is that a bad habit?) 🪐Do you read the synopsis before buying the book? Yes. A horrible habit is reading the Goodreads reviews or searching it up on IG. I know, terrible. 🪐What are you reading this week? Too many books to list but wanna read a bit of Shahnameh by Ferdowsi 🪐What are you listening to this week? My mother loves Michael Bublé's Christmas album...but also mainly Kpop 🪐What are you watching this week? I'm not a TV fan but I watch productivity/school/book related vids on YouTube 🪐What are you excited for this week? Staying home and relaxing! Just kidding! My prof doesn't like us enough and we all have a dissertation (essay in French is simple words) due the first class back so here's to hoping I don't procrastinate! Also excited to really have time to dive into the research for my WIP, which, if anyone has any codenames for, would be helpful.
