Walk MS connects people living with MS and those who care about them.
Some of you that have been around since the beginning know that I live with MS and that at times it can be a fuck all of a disease. You also probably know that each year I Captain a team in our local MS walk. Over 5 years I’ve raised nearly 6k to help fight MS and it would mean the world to me for any help from my tumblr family.
Now what is MS? So in your body you have this thing called a Myelin Sheath that protects certain nerves. It’s ESSENTIAL for your body to run properly. What MS does is it eats away that covering. My favorite analogy to remember what it does: It’s like an electrical cord and something has been chewing at the outer covering, exposing the wires and causing misfires usually inside your brain and spinal cord. Some days it’s annoying, some days it’s painful. Some days all i want to do is sleep even if I slept most of the day before. My own personal battles have involved Seizures, what I refer to as the tingles, fatigue, double vision, and good ol’ memory loss. And then there are days (most of my days, thankfully) that I am perfectly fine. All thanks to my medication and the advances they’ve made. Which is where all the money goes and they have come so far in the six short years I’ve been diagnosed.
So help a girl out, if you can’t donate, please share! And hey if you’re in Florida in April, stop by and join in the fun. We’ll have cupcakes.
(I’m also in the works of making drawstring backpacks for fundraising, so message me if that’s a thing you’re into.)
