Indulge in the sweet, caramelized goodness of Liege waffles, a Belgian delight that's perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients: 500g all-purpose flour. 10g active dry yeast. 200ml lukewarm milk. 200g unsalted butter, softened. 2 large eggs. 200g pearl sugar. 1 tsp vanilla extract. A pinch of salt.
Instructions: Add the yeast to the warm milk and stir it around. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it foams up. Butter that has been softened should be mixed with flour in a large bowl until the mixture is crumbly. Mix the yeast with the eggs, vanilla extract, and a little salt. Mix until a dough starts to form. For about 10 minutes, knead the dough until it is smooth and springy. Add the pearl sugar to the dough and mix it in until it's spread out evenly. To make the dough double in size, cover it and let it rise for one to two hours. Warm up your waffle iron. Cut the dough into little pieces and roll each one into a ball. Put a dough ball on a waffle iron that has already been heated up. Cook for two to three minutes, until the dough is golden brown and caramelized. Do it again with the rest of the dough balls. Serve the Liege waffles warm, with powdered sugar or melted chocolate on top if you want. Have fun with your tasty Liege waffles!
