#voltron rewrite

Then i remember to do that i have to rewatch the show because its been YEARS. But rewatching means being reminded of the things i didn't like.

BUT i will hopefully force myself to do it at some point. Because some of the things that immediately spring to mind when i think of doing a rewrite. (Reminder it has been YEARS since i watched the show)

-Lance getting treated better. i.e. someone (likely an oc, because that's how i feel like i could best do a rewrite) calling Pidge out on how she seemed to lash out and be nasty whenever she was stressed, annoyed etc. Also (albeit somewhat lightly because it didn't seem intentional) call out Hunk for not stopping it, commenting on it, even joining in sometimes, overall have Hunk just be the BEST friend Lance (or anyone) could have.

-I don't particularly care for Klance but i remember the groundwork being there so i'd add it in regardless

-Speaking off, actually work on Keith's abandonment issues (do not remember that being done well)

-Honestly? give each paladin and Allura some kind of arc/work on them because i remember having at minimum some small issues with all of them (though i imagine that's mainly thanks to the writers)

-Oh yeah, remember Allura really needing a bit of an ego check/someone to pull her back and telling her to listen more and not just command everyone to do what she said

-Lotor's generals felt kinda wonky, like the ideas for them weren't concrete and kept shifting?

-LOTOR. My boy was done dirty! like, the idea of half galra being so neglected and hated was interesting...and went nowhere. Would make Lotor and his generals an absolute UNIT, incredibly loyal to each other (the reason why Lotor has been so undetectable prior to his introduction and why he was so easily a threat to voltron?)

None of that "i'm going to kill all the galra!" bit. ALSO, the other altean colonies? they're not gonna be Lotor's, probably Haggar's

-Haggar's arc(?) was weird, interesting but weird, liked that the moment her memories came back she was incredibly devoted to her son, very interesting stuff to think on

-Does everyone remember when Allura cleansed(?) Zarkon's spirit/ghost of the quintessence (quintessence overload? can't remember if the quintessence Zarkon walked into was either bad or just so much that it fucked with his head) and he realised what he'd done and felt AWFUL about it? that was so fucking cool! that was interesting! and they again did fuck all with an interesting concept! Obviously it doesn't dissolve him of his crimes but imagine beating someone you think is entirely, foully evil and then finding out some weird force/energy fucked with them and sort of made them do it? how could you NOT have that in your head for atleast a little bit?!

-Have the blade reassess themselves, gonna have someone (maybe Keith after he's had some time to reflect on himself?) point out that the blade still do the galra empires 'victory or death' thing and aren't all that different and its a detriment to them.

-Gonna take a bit from Avatar, haven't watched the show fully but saw a scene where Aang and the gang were in the fire nation and were watching a show that depicted the group as evil, bumbling idiots, and the fire nation as the good guys. Yeah, gonna have the group face the empire's propaganda and have them (ESPECIALLY ALLURA) realise it's not so simple as 'Galra bad', that the galra are taught they are in the right from practically birth

-Thinking back on the 'victory or death' thing, it's clearly self destructive but makes me think on galra parenting. Did galra learn to be harsh on their children just out of desperation to keep them alive and it became the norm? are parents that treat their children not just like future soldiers or war fodder looked down on as 'soft' or 'weak'?

-So apparently the cast knew Shiro was gay since season 2 and just went "nah, we won't say anything". I mean, it's not surprising given they did the 'bury your gays' and then desperately flung Ezor and Zethrid together after people got rightfully pissed off.

Yeah, that's coming up early, likely a very casual discussion of Shiro saying he's gay and either Coran and Allura asking what that means and then essentially going "ah, so that's the human word for it" because aliens aren't gonna give a shit about that what with all the different races and cultures out there.

Maaaaybe have Shiro and Adam get back together? Yeah Adam's not dying and i'm not giving Shiro an npc husband but i'm unsure at the moment. At the very least they're gonna talk things out and be in an okay place by the end.

-Gonna have Pidge use they/them, maybe make them a demigirl/bigender? (i think those are the right terms? please correct me if i'm wrong) honestly kinda thinking they realise it after pretending to be a boy for so long

-The Shiro/Kuron clone thing, not going to just ignore Lance talking to Shiro in...i think it was the lion mindspace thing? either way Lance will be involved in it, maybe for a short moment he bonds with the black lion in order to speak to the real Shiro and try to get him back?

-The lions will absolutely talk to their paladins, each other obviously and maybe others? but likely only if they've got a strong enough bond with them

-Maybe more ghosts of the previous paladins stuff, likely in desperate moments

-Ooh, actually, maybe have black give Shiro/Keith/whoever i make pilot him, visions/memories of Zarkon BEFORE he got fucked up by the quintessence? like having the lions really hold on to their old paladins, have incredibly strong bonds with them and have them MATTER. Like, black still holding on to the GOOD times with Zarkon and the times he was good even after all that time?

-Uh...oh yeah, the Lotor x Allura romance...eh, don't remember really liking it but also don't remember them actually building on it much? i'll think on it when i eventually get around to watching the show again

-OH YEAH! Allura won't die, might change that to Haggar doing a self sacrifice as a sort of apology to Lotor and for everything she's done? also if anyone does die (temporarily) then it's actually going to be TALKED ABOUT.

Damn, got more out than i even realised i had there.
