Because why the fuck weren’t they invaded immediately after Shiro, Matt, and Samuel were all taken???

But here’s my short idea of what could have happened.

The Kerberos mission goes wrong, the group gets taken. The Galra know the Blue Lion is somewhere in the solar system, through the druids learn that the Galaxy Garrison is the main point of contact with the scientists.

The Galaxy Garrison doesn’t know anything about Voltron but out of fear they make a deal with the Galra. They will help search and find the Blue Lion, relinquishing it to the Galra for their freedom.

To make sure that this is never found out about the public, the Kerberos Mission is covered up and said no survivors to keep the existence for the Galra a secret. This is why they’re hell bent on keeping Pidge out.

The Blade of Marmora, knew they needed to get one of the Kerberos Crew back to earth to warn everyone about the Galra. With hopes someone would be able to fly the Lion to safety. All they needed was an opening.

And they got it, through Shiro’s arm. Making their plan, they waited until a Galra ship was close enough to Earth. It was a tricky send off but they managed to get Shiro back.

The gang was successful in getting the Blue Lion away from earth, back through the wormhole to Allura and Coran. Except, the Galra didn’t chase after. No, the ship that was still there turned back towards earth.

The deal was off. The Galra invade.

That’s my short quick thinking of what would have made a better story line than whatever we got in the final two seasons.
