I love this beautiful image of @northernaesthetic playing his lyre, nestled between the fjords of Gudvangen, adorned in Midgaarb. . . Here he is wearing the new Warrior Coat in Steel Gray wool. I am aiming to add some more ‘muted~earthy’ tones to my shop in linens and perhaps also wools. While I am scouting, I would love to know what colors you would like to see me offer that I don’t already - since I am making garments for you, your feedback means everything and is very helpful! This also means as some new colors are called to me, some of my old colors may become discontinued. Throughout the study of the literature, mythology, and history of the Viking Age, the concept of Shieldmaidens has been a pressing topic of discussion. We have quite a few references of these warrior women in the Sagas and other literary sources, but historians often took them to be examples of flowery writing rather than truthful telling. Recently, however, archeologists have been excavating more and more graves of women who were buried with weapons rather than household items. And even more intriguing... They are beginning to discover that previously excavated graves (which were assumed to be male for their clothing and weapons) were actually female after DNA testing. So how many more of these graves could actually have been Shieldmaidens? Do you believe in their existence? ⚔️ This photoshoot was so powerful, especially considering that we did it on the Boston Common, right after the protesters from the @womensmarch were heading out!
